Chapter 34: After Party and Scholarships

Maya's POV

After we graduated we went to Matthew's house  for a celebratory party! We get there and the place was packed! There was Lucas and his family, me and my family, Riley and her whole family, Farkle and his dad, Smackle and her family, and Zay and his family. We were going to go to Topanga's Bakery but we figured it had more space here. Anyways we were having a good time.

It was interesting because half way through the night I couldn't find Riley so I went to her room. When I walked in I saw her sitting by the bay window. "Things are changing aren't they?" Riley says. I go over to her and sit down.

Maya: Honey you know they were going to.

Riley: I know but it's scary now just thinking about it.

Maya: I know but luckily we will all have each other.

Riley: I know.

(The window opens and...)

Farkle: Ladies.

Maya and Riley: Farkle.

(Farkle comes inside.)

Riley: I remember that. I remember the turtleneck shirts. Why can't life be simple like that.

(Then the door opens...)

Lucas: Because life needs to change.

Zay: Why?

(Zay and Smackle come inside.)

Farkle: Because it helps us prepare for the next things. The bigger things. The more important things.

Maya: Does life know what it's doing to us?

(Then Mr. Matthews comes inside. I mean seriously! How does he even know we are in here?!!)

Mr. Matthews: Life does. Like Mr. Minkus said it's just preparing us.

Maya: Well how do we know that?

Mr. Matthews: We don't but one day we will look back and realize that it is preparing us for that moment.

Maya: Thank you Mr. Matthews for everything.

Mr.Matthews: You're welcome.

(He walks back outside.)

Maya: So we graduated. Now it's college then what?

Riley: Who knows?

Farkle: I wish we could just get like a phone call telling us what to do.

(Then Lucas's phone starts ringing. We all look at Farkle then at Lucas.)

Smackle: Well speak of the devil!

Riley: Oh.

Maya: My.

Lucas: Farkle.

Farkle: Well are you going to pick it up?

(Lucas stands up and answers his phone.)

Lucas: Hello?.....Yes this is Lucas Friar.....Yes I did.....Are you serious?!!.....Yes of course!.....Thank you so much sir!.....Alright I will.....Thanks.....You have a good day.....Thank you, bye.

Maya: Who was that?

Lucas: That was the baseball director from NYU. I got a full paid scholarship!

Maya: Lucas! That's amazing! But you didn't apply for a baseball scholarship.

Lucas: I know they said that someone had called saying how great of a player I was so he sent a scout to the school and well he said I was great!

Maya: Really?

Lucas: Yeah. I can only think of two people who I was talking to about this. And one of them didn't do it.(He says looking at me) So there is only one other person I can think of.(He then looks at Zay.)

Zay: I said you want to hear a great Lucas story and you know what he said?

Lucas: What did he say?

Zay: He actually said no.

Riley: What?!!

Maya: Then who did this?

Josh: I did.

Maya: WHAT?!!

Riley: WHAT?!!

Lucas: How?

Josh: Well because Maya was talking to me about you and how you love baseball so I called up some people and they said they would look into this.

Lucas: Wow! Thank you. But why would you do this?

Josh: Well I wanted my favorite kids to stay close and also Maya said she didn't want you to go to Hee-Haw land. (True.) And when she told me you guys were all going to NYU this was a great opportunity.

Lucas: Wow! Well thank you.

Maya: Thanks Josh.

Josh: No problem. I'm leaving so I'll see you guys later.

Maya: Bye.

Riley: Bye.

(Josh leaves and we all sit there at the bay window for about 10 minutes until we decide to go outside. Once we get outside we see this.)

Minkus: It was one lousy A!

Topanga: I was still valedictorian!

Minkus: And you gave your speech to him! (Pointing to Shawn.)

Shawn: Hey! She asked me to speak!

Minkus: And then weirdo over here ruins our graduation! (Pointing to Eric.)

Eric: I wanted to get in my speech time! And it's all because of you! (Pointing to Feeny.)

Feeny: Why am I even here Mr. Matthews? (Looking at Cory.) 

Cory: Because you made me suffer all through my years of school. You are going to suffer for one day!

Eric: Hey, Pangers?

Topanga: Yeah?

Eric: Why did you give your speech to Shawn?

Minkus: That doesn't matter! All that does matter is that my son was valedictorian!

(Then everyone starts fighting.)

Maya: Oh my gosh!

Riley: Is this going to be us when we get older?

Farkle: I think so.

Zay: Well speak for yourself.

Lucas: Texas people aren't looking to bad now are they Maya?

Maya: Oh yeah? Huckleberry why don't you take a look.

(Then we notice them all going at it.)

Zay: Crap! That is going to be us!

Smackle: Not me! My family is perfectly normal.

(We look at her family just sitting there smiling.)

Lucas: Well you know what they say, the normal looking ones are always the weirdest ones.
