After I left Lucas's penthouse I went downstairs to the lobby and sat down for a minute.  I didn't know of I should go home or if I should go to Josh's.  I decided I was going to just go home.  I walk home because his house is pretty close to my house.  I go into my apartment and I see my mom sitting on a chair in the the kitchen.  I put down my bag and I sat down next to my mom.

Maya: Hi mom.

Katy: We need to talk.

Maya: About what?

(I take off my shoes and stand up.)

Katy: Sit Maya.

Maya: Ok.

(I sit down and look at her.  I look at her eyes and see that they are all puffy and red.)

Katy: I found this.

(She holds up a pregnancy test.)

Maya: Mom...

Katy: Maya you are 16.

Maya: Mom let me explain--

Katy:--Explain what Maya?  You are 16 and you don't have a job.  I am barely paying for both of us.  How am I going to pay for 3 people?...Maya Penelope Hart answer me!

Maya: I don't know, ok?!!  I don't know what I'm going to do?

(I start crying.)

Katy: You know exactly what my mother did to me when I got pregnant with you at 19.

Maya: You're going to kick me out?

Katy: No.  I'm not.  I just need time to think and get all my facts straight.

Maya: So...

Katy: Go.

Maya: Where?

Katy: Somewhere.  Leave me alone to get things straight.

Maya: Ok.

(I grab my bag and put my shoes back on.)

Katy: One question before you leave.

Maya: Ok?

Katy: How's the father?

Maya: You really wanna know?

Katy: I need to know.  I'm find out sooner or later.

Maya: It's Lucas.

I see my mom's face drop and without saying anything I walk out.  I walk down the stairs and sit down on a stair.  I don't know how long my mom doesn't want to see me so I decide that since I told Josh, Lucas, and my mom now would be the best time to tell Riley.  So I walk a little bit and buzz in to her apartment.  I go upstairs and open her door

Maya: Hey.

Riley: Hi!

Maya: Where's your family?

Riley: At Auggie's parent teacher conference.

Maya: Oh ok.

Riley: So Lucas told me you wanted to talk to me.

Maya: Really?

Riley: Yeah.

Maya: Did he say about?

Riley: No just that it's really important.

Maya: Okay well Riles I think you should sit down.

Riley: Ok.

Maya: Riley listen what I'm about to tell you is going to be very, very, important.

Riley: Ok.

Maya: Riley, I'm---Pregnant...
