Part 13

Lizzie's POV

I came early to work. Seb isn't around yet. I checked my e-mails. Seemed that every thing has been taken cared of.

I stand up, walk and check if there's anything to do on his desk, if there's anything to arrange. Well, wala naman masyadong aayusin sa desk n'ya, before he leave the office, he make sure that everything is in order.

I prepared a coffee, for me. I look at the wall clock, 7:15. He'll be too early to be here. While I was preparing the coffee, I heard a low creak coming from the door. I turned around. I'm surprised to see him.

He was smiling at me. " Good morning. Is that for me?" Then he head to his desk.

"Actually, it's for me. But you can have it." I finish what I'm doing. Kinuha ko ang kape, naglakad ako palapit sa kanya. "Here's the best tasting coffee you ever had so far." I smiled at him, looking him in the eyes.

Lizzie, are you flirting? You know you're not supposed to do that right? He has a girlfriend!

Kinuha n'ya ang kape. Ininom. "Yep. Best so far. Why are you so early?" He walked over and stopped a few inches away from me. He hasn't break our gaze.

"I was thinking about the e-mails." still looking at him.

"You shouldn't worry about that. I'm here." He sipped his coffee, then his tongue brushed over his lips in circular motion, then he bit his lower lip. He's still looking at me.

My heart beats so fast. I can't take my eyes off him! No! Don't fall for him. He has a girlfriend, babaero. Iiyak ka lang. Being friends with him is ok, but don't fall for him.

I smiled, turn my back on him. "Enjoy your coffee." Pahabol ko, bago 'ko tuluyang umupo at magsimulang magtrabaho.

He followed me, he sat on the chair opposite mine. The only thing that separate us is the desk. His chin rested on his fist while looking at me. "Sabay tayong maglunch?"

I raised my eyebrow. "Why?"

"What do you mean, why? We're friends. Aren't friends supposed to go out on lunch together? Other friends do that every day." He responded, smirking.

"Ok. I'll decide on the place and you pay?" I playfully said while looking at him again.

"Yup. Your choice of place, I pay." He winked. Tumayo na s'ya dala ang kape n'ya.

Am I excited? I'm feeling the same way I had with Chris before. I felt scared. Am I ready to be hurt again? Lizzie, remember: Seb has a girlfriend. You can't and you shouldn't fall for him.

What's wrong if we go out on lunch? We are just friends. We're going out as friends, nothing more. Nothing less.

Yes, Chris picks you up from work. You go out every weekends. You're friends with him. And look what happened to you after that. You are left broken.

I've learned from my mistake. It's not going to happen again. Never.

I'm having that internal battle again.

Time passed by quickly, lunch time na.

"Lizzie, let's go?" Excitement is visible on his face.

I nodded my head. I turned off my monitor.

He went ahead, opened the door for me. I smiled.

We walk side by side going to the cafe where I normally have my lunch. His eyes are wandering.

"You always go here?" Tanong n'ya ng makaupo na kami.

I gave him the menu.

"Ikaw?"

"I'll order the usual."

Kumunot ang noo n'ya. "The usual? Can you order a different food? I'm with you, you don't have to be frugal." He smirked.

I laughed. "I'm just used to having the same food for my lunch."

He placed the menu down. Then he hold my hand. "Let's go." Tumayo na s'ya.

I look at him. "San tayo pupunta?" Nakataas ang kilay ko. Hindi pa din ako tumatayo.

"Let's go."  He tugged my right hand that he's currently holding. "I'll treat you somewhere else. Place here is nice, but nah."

I rolled my eyeballs. Tumayo na din ako, but I slowly pulled my hand away from him.

Again, we're walking side by side. The cafe he's talking about is few minutes away from the cafe where I usually have my lunch.

This one's fancy. Really, it is better than the other one. Has huge framed paintings hanging on the wall. The color of the paint is relaxing - yellow green. I don't know , but I like the place.

"How do you find it?" He asked while scanning the menu.

"Cool!" My eyes kept wandering on the place. "Nagpunta na kayo dito ni Marg? Or ni Blake?" I asked out of nowhere.

He shook his head. "I told Marg about the place, but she doesn't want us to have our lunch on places like this."

"And Blake?"

"Nah. Blake is.. Forget about them." He waved his hand to dismiss the topic. "What do you want?"

We ordered some food. Start eating and talked about some things, about ourselves.

"I have an older sister. 2 years older than me. Do you wanna know my birthday?" He wiggled his eyebrow.

"Do you think I want to know?" I asked back." Then I sipped a mango juice while I look at him?

"Don't you?"

"Ok. To be fair, since you already know when my birthday is, tell me yours."

He told me his birthday. "Do you wanna know anything else?"

"I don't know. Is there anything else I should know?"

"Boring! Ask me questions.. Come on!" He insisted. "Dali na.."

What do I want to ask him? Work related? Duh! Why would you want to ask about work? For 6 months you two are always together, contained in one room and yet you wanted to ask about work?

Personal thing? About him? I don't know what to ask. I look at him intently. He's staring at me. Eyebrow raised, waiting for what I'm gonna ask him.

"Hmm. What are you gonna feel if one day, your friend stop talking to you?"

He looks at me puzzled.

"Never mind." I took a sip of the remaining mango juice.

"Try me. Why does this friend stop talking to me?" He sounded interested.

"Forget about it. Not worth it." I look away. I've avoided his gaze.

"Oh come on! Tell me.. I'm willing to listen. Is it about your personal experience? Who stop talking to who?" He kept asking.

Why did you start asking that question Liz. He's not supposed to know that! I scolded my self. I rubbed my cheeks.

I took a deep breath. "Let's save it for another day." I look at my wrist watch. "15 minutes before 1.. Come on!" Tumayo na ko.

Tumayo na din s'ya. "So there's another day? Maybe tomorrow?"

"We'll see." I started walking away.
