Part 28

Seb's POV

I noticed she's been avoiding Kate since this morning. I wondered what happened. Before we left, she asked me to call Kate and Tony. While we're walking, she made sure na hindi s'ya tatabi sa dalawa. When we hopped on to the boat, she doesn't even lay her eyes on them. Then I caught them, looking at each other for a while but Liz looks like she was looking pass Kate.

Our orders came, quick 10 minutes after. She ordered french toast and coffee, Tapsilog and black coffee. Em craved for pancake and hot chocolate since she's told not to drink coffee. Chris opted to go with their classic Arroz Caldo. Kate and Tony ordered the same food, Toasted bread and butter and black coffee din.

I fed Liz some of my tapsilog, she seemed to enjoy it. "Masarap."

"Kain ka pa." I told her, then took another spoonful from my plate and in no time my spoon full of tapsilog is near her face again.

She shook her head. "I'm ok. Just finish your food." Then she took a sipped of her coffee.

"Aw! Come on, please.." The spoon is still in front of her face, just waiting for her mouth to open.

"Aga-aga, lalanggamin 'tong dalawa na 'to." Sabi ni Ate.

She opened her mouth and took the spoonful of tapsilog. "Ayoko na ha? I'm full, ubusin mo na 'yan."

"Where are we going after breakfast?" Asked Chris. He just finished his food.

"Seb, is it ok if we don't come with you?" I heard Tony asked.

I look at him. "Yeah, I mean.. I don't mind. Do you mind if they don't go with us?" I look at Lizzie.

She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't mind."

"Pasensya na ha?" Kate whispered.

"No, it's ok. We're in a majestic place, you two deserve sometime alone." Ate Em responded, then she winked at Kate. "I guess will just meet you here before sunset? Para sabay-sabay tayo makabalik.

Kate nodded in agreement. "Yes, thanks Em."

Kate and Tony left soon after we finished our breakfast. The four of us started strolling on the shore, Em and Chris are walking ahead of us.

"Hey!" I gently tugged her hand.

No response from her,

"Lizzie.." I called her name then gently squeeze her hand this time. "Are you ok?" I asked concerned.

"I'm ok."

This is unusual, she's not this quiet normally. I stopped from walking, took my sandals off and sat down on the sand. The sand is cold but it gives warmth as it hugged my feet.

She looked back, wondering but she walked going to my direction and sat beside me. I look at Em and Chris, they are going further away.

"Tell me, what's wrong? Did I do something that upsets you?" I'm worried that she's upset with me.

She smiled, her usual smile. "Silly! You never upset me.. well.." She looks like she was thinking.

"Sige na, what's happening?" I want to ask her about Kate, but I'm keeping my self from doing so. I would like her to open up.

She sighed. "Si ate kasi.."

I wait patiently and hold her hand.

"Naiinis ako sa kanya." She blurted out. "I talked to her last night. Then she told me, she'd rather die kung hindi n'ya makakasama si Tony. Tama ba yun?" She sounded perplexed her hands a bit sweaty.

"I told you to not get yourself involved."

"And I'm not!" She countered.

"We're to relax, ok?" I gently caressed her hand. "Mare-realize din 'yan ni Kate. But right now, she's blinded of what she feels for him."

"I know. But I'm just trying to make a point. I just want her to know na hindi tama yung ginagawa nila. Na meron silang nasasaktan."

I put my left index finger to her lips. "Shhh. I don't want you talking about Kate or Tony again, ok?"

Liz bit her lower lip. "I'm sorry."

"Leave them be. We have our own issues to take care of. She's your sister, but she's old enough to handle it."

"Speaking of that, did she call you? Still bothering you?"

"Marg?"

She nodded, moved closer to me then placed my hand over her shoulder.

"I blocked her number, so I haven't received any calls from her these past few days. But we know she has ways to get to me, like what she did last time."

We both sighed but then laughed soon after.

"Let's not talk about her, shall we? I'm thinking, we should get married asap."

"ASAP?"

"Yeah, when we go back.. I think we should start preparing the documents."

"Don't get too excited, Mister. Have I already agreed to it?"

"Have you not? I thought you already agreed that we should get married? You're too excited, I can see it in your eyes." I cupped her face then slowly I felt my lips on hers. "I'm all yours, don't worry." I gently bit her lower lips.

"Baka sinasabi mo lang 'to ngayon. But after the marriage, you'll change." She sound skeptical.

"Are you doubting me? Don't you trust me?"

"I do. But look at Tony. For sure, before he met Kate.. He promised everything to his wife. Maybe, he even promised to give the whole world to her. And look at them now."

I shook my head. I was a bit hurt, she's comparing me to Tony. We are two different person. Sure, I was a playboy - was. But people change, maybe others don't, I don't know and I don't care about them. Of all people, she's the least that I thought would doubt me. "I'm different from him." My voice sounded stern. I'm trying to hide my emotion, but I just can't.

Deafening silence.

Tapsilog is a condensation of the words "tapa, sinangag at itlog" (tap-si-log) which translates to beef tapa, garlic fried rice, and egg. This dish often enjoyed with a generous portion of sinangag (garlic fried rice).
