I pick out a light blue oversized sweater and a pair of white jeans to go to school in.
Scurrying down into the kitchen I leave my mom a note telling her I miss her and grab another one of the apples I love.
When I leave the house in the jacket I had borrowed yesterday, which was indeed still clean, I'm surprised when I see the boy leaning against my mailbox in a different jacket and light grey shirt.
"What are you doing here?" I ask. "How do you even know where I live?"
"I've lived in this area for years, I know where everybody lives." He replies casually, as if this scenario was absolutely normal.
"You avoided my first question," I fire back.
"I wanted to make sure you could walk down stairs without falling pathetically." He waves his arm out and gestures to my porch steps sarcastically.
"That's not a real excuse."
"Tch." He begins to walk off without me and I yell out to him to wait up.
He doesn't wait, however, and I sprint to catch up with him.
"You know, you never told me your name." I say in between pants after a few moments of silence.
"You never told me yours, and have never asked, so why would I of?" He retorts.
I bite my bottom lip before replying. "My name is Estelle, but I prefer to be called Ella, or El."
"Estelle it is," he says, as I make my childish pout visible.
"And your name is..?" I ask.
He lets out a long, almost overly dramatic sigh before replying. "Levi. Now no more questions, you annoying piece of shit."
As awkward and slightly creepy it was that he had suddenly appeared at my house, I find myself somehow enjoying his company, as cold as his demeanour was.
We walk together silently until we arrive at the school from that, and I wonder if us walking together is going to be a daily thing.

In Literature, I sneak a few glances at Levi, finding myself ignoring the teacher's lecture completely.
I pay careful notice to his features. His nose is long and narrow and eyes slanted, but in a way that indescribably adds to his charm. He has a thin mouth and his expression hardly changes. Well, that last part I already knew.
The class is over in what seems to be no time and we're dismissed. Levi follows behind me as I pull my backpack over my shoulder.
"So how much longer are you going to gawk at my face?" He suddenly asks, annoyance clear in his voice yet again.
I feel my face burn red and he lets out a snicker. "I wasn't gawking." I quickly lie.
He rolls his eyes.
Once we exit the building and continue down the path we took yesterday, I interrogate him.
"Why were you in detention yesterday?" I play with my fingers and anticipate his reply.
He lowers his eyebrows and glances over at me. "I hit a kid in the face."
"What?" Of all things, that was probably the last answer I would predict. "Why?"
"He wouldn't shut up, so I hit the idiot in the jaw."
I keep quiet for a bit after that, trying to imagine him hitting someone. I can imagine it pretty well, with his attitude and smug expressions.
"Any more questions?" He says dully, whilst stopping at his house.
"Ah, uh, would you like your jacket back?"
For an instant I swear I saw the slightest smile on his face.
"Keep it." With that, he walks into his door and I stand there frozen, cheeks still fuming red.
