I snuggle closer to the warm body beside me.
Levi's arm is gripped around my waist, holding me tightly against him, his even breath brushing past my neck.
"Captain," I whisper. "Captain!"
His eyes flutter, his face glowing with innocence. I almost laugh at the child-like Levi, and when he notices, he becomes stoic again, even though he begins pulling me closer.
"You need to get up," I try to get myself out of his grasp, but he doesn't comply. "If somebody sees us like this, we could get in trouble."
"Ten more minutes," he groans in my ear.
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
A hand starts trailing up my thigh. "What was that?" He purrs, while kissing me lightly on the forehead.
"C-Captain! Stop that!" I try to roll off the bed, and he finally lets go.
"You idiot, I thought you didn't want anyone to know."
I roll my eyes and start lightly pushing him out of the bed. "Shoo, shoo."
His hand massaging the back of his neck, he leaves my room without another word.
I lay back on the bed, smiling. Does this mean Levi likes me? I wonder.
Slowly getting dressed, I hear a knock at my door once I begin buttoning up my shirt. "Who is it?" I call.
"It's Hanji," she comes in without waiting for my reply and is grinning mischievously.
"What is it?" I ask.
"Your Mom just finished breakfast."
"Why are you smiling like that?"
Her grin widens and she shuts her eyes. "You'll see."
Pulling my leather boots on, I jump out of the door and walk with her.
She looks surprised when she sees Levi cooking eggs in the kitchen. "You cook?"
He nods and squints his eyes in focus. I laugh lightly and sprinkle some salt on them, but he swats my hand away. "Last time I trusted you with salt, you clumsily spilled the whole thing in the pan."
My face reddens at the memory.
"She always has been a terrible cook," Mom sticks her tongue out playfully and hugs me. "Good morning, sweetheart."
"You're embarrassing me," I mutter.
She squeezes me tighter before releasing me.
"We're leaving for the expedition in ten minutes," Hanji informs me. "We have just enough time to eat."
I nod and grab a piece of toast, not too hungry.
Eren pokes his head around the corner and walks in. "Good morning," he calls.
Levi starts furiously scrambling the eggs around, to the point where Petra has to stop him and take over.
"Good morning," I beam. He embraces me and tucks a strand of hair behind my ear.
Looking past Eren's shoulder, I see Levi scowling disapprovingly and mouthing, "Mine."
I roll my eyes, knowing he most likely doesn't care either way, and Eren releases me. "How'd you sleep?"
"Great."
"Good."
Everybody finishes their food and gives their thanks to my mother before leaving to meet up with the rest of the squad. Hanji and Levi wait for me patiently at the door as I hug my mother, whispering goodbyes.
