Chapter Ten - Collision

When I wake up, Levi is still on the chair beside his bed, sleeping soundly.

His face seems a lot less tense while asleep. I smile at his calm expression and drop my legs on the side of the bed, inches away from him.

I don't know what it is, but lately I find is presence more comforting. I reluctantly grab his hand, making sure he doesn't wake up while I pry it from him gently.

Tracing the lines on his palm, I smile. His skin is soft to my touch.

I start rubbing circles into his palm and don't even realize that I have woken him up.

"Brat, what do you think you're doing?"

I jump and fall back into the bed. "L-Levi, I didn't know you were awake!"

He stands from his chair and grabs my hand, pulling me back into the position I was just in, and puts the back of his hand to my forehead again. "Your fever is gone. How do you feel?"

"I feel fine, still a little tired, but fine."

To my surprise, he sits beside me on the bed. "Did you mean what you said about joining the Survey Corps?"

I nod. "I was thinking about that actually. I turn fifteen in three weeks, so I think I'll go to training then. Exciting, huh?"

"That soon?" His face pales.

"Aww, is someone gonna miss me?" I grin.

"Tch, no, I'm just happy that I won't have a creepy brat following me around and touching me all of the time now."

"Hey! Don't lie!" I playfully slap his arm and he grabs me my the wrist and flips me over on the bed.

"You plan on joining when you're this weak?" He asks bluntly.

I'm on my back and he has both of my wrists in one hand, towering over me. I exert force from my legs and pull myself on top of him.

"I'm not weak," I frown. "You're the one being pinned down by a girl."

I sit on his waist, trying to keep him from moving using my weight, and grab each wrist into one of my hands.

He quickly uses his arm strength to overpower me and ends up spread right onto me, his knees on each side of me and both of my hands in only one of his again.

"You were saying?" The words are spoken right at my mouth, his cool breath making contact with my lips.

I grin at his cocky behaviour. He's a lot stronger than I give him credit for.

His thin lips take the form of a smirk and we just look into each other's eyes.

"I want to stay like this for a little while," I say, the thoughts of my mind slipping right out of my mouth.

"I don't want you to leave." His lips are so close to mine that they brush past me with each syllable he lets out.

"Why not?"

"It's too dangerous, you'll get killed."

"Aww, is Levi saying he cares about me?" I grin.

"I never said I didn't, did I?" Well, he did say that, but with this I'm starting to get hope he actually does.

"Levi?"

"What is it?"

"That question I was going to ask earlier, I wanted to know if I-" I look down and blush. I'm too afraid to say the words.

"If you?" His eyes stare coolly into mine, and I can feel my heart beat faster.

"If I could- err-" I'm interrupted by his lips colliding into mine, as if reading my thoughts.

He lets go of my wrists and I wrap my arms around his neck. His kisses are slow but firm as his hand slides down to the small of my back, partially lifting me up.

I smile into the kiss, as his tongue goes over my lower lip, and then takes my lower lip between his teeth and pulls it gently.

We both stop for air, panting, but still staring into each other's eyes.

He clears his throat while removing himself from me. "Well, I better take you home now, eh?"
