A night before, Hanji had told me all about what she was doing in her time off, starry-eyed and completely excited about the Titan captures she's planning on making take place. I, however, wasn't too sure where I'd go at the time, and was more focused on that than the gruesome ways she plans on testing their pain tolerancy again.

"Why are we doing this again?" I had asked.

"Erwin is busy in the Capital," she told me solemnly. "We won't be able to so much as plan a mission for a while. He's giving us a week to go visit with family and have free time."

"Family?" I bit my lip and felt a pang of guilt make its way up. I hadn't thought about my Mom in forever, but honestly, she was the least of my worries.

"Yeah," Hanji nodded slowly, as if I would take forever to catch on. "Are you going to visit your Mom?"

"I should," I admitted, looking down. It was a bit selfish of me to not want to go see my Mother again to stay with Levi, knowing he didn't have a family he could go home to.

"Then why don't you?"

"Why doesn't she what?" Levi sat down beside me, crossing his legs. He always had a habit of showing up at the worst possible times, and this was one of them.

"Don't you think Estelle should visit her Mother?" Hanji asked.

"Oh? Well yes," he replied stoically. "Don't you want to?"

"That's not it," I answered awkwardly.

"Then what is it?" He pressed, with Hanji leaning in, inspecting me for my answer.

And that's how it got to where I'm at now: with Hanji to my left and Levi to my right. Hanji had decided the night before her experiments could be put on hold to hang out with Levi and I. I look out the window nervously, scared of how my unplanned visit may go.

The sun shines behind us and I squint, trying to focus my vision. Hanji adjusts her glasses with the tips of two fingers and offers me a wide grin.

"Estelle!" A figure calls, waving wildly. I walk towards my Mom with open arms, questionably looking at the man behind her.

"Hi, Mom," I answer plainly. I lean into the hug, my lips pressed to her ear. "Who's that?"

"That's Will," she whispers. "My new fiance."

"What?" I ask, breaking the hug.

She gives me a smile, and she seems to be glowing in the sunlight. Her hair flows in the wind and she looks tanner, more beautiful. Basically, more happy.

"Hey, Will," I offer, trying to get used to the name on my tongue. He nods towards me and offers a, "Nice to meet you," before walking into the house.

"He's fixing dinner," Mom tells me, the smile not escaping her face. "And Levi, Levi, Levi, you haven't grown at all!"

I roll my eyes at her anrnoying remark and watch as she gives him a huge hug. "And you're Hanji, right?"

Hanji nods and hugs my Mom before she can reach her herself, picking her up and whirling her in the air. "I hope you don't mind us coming in short notice," she says as my mom seems to be getting the life choked out of her.

"It's fine," Mom wheezes, recovering as she gets put down on the ground. "How about you kids go in."

The scent of the room is thick with the smell of cakes and candles. I scrunch my nose slightly; not because I don't enjoy the scent, but because I haven't smelled anything like it in months.

"Do you think you guys could go to the markets?" Mom asks as she steps in. "I think we'll need some drinks and ingredients for tonight."

I nod, and Levi walks to the door with me.
