Chapter Thirty-One - Fire

I on-look as Annie's hardened calf digs in Eren, penetrating his arms and chest. The others look just as horrified as I do, her ruthless behaviour surprising all of us.

She hardens a fist and Eren takes multiple hits to the face, the disgusting shriek of the Female type unnerving us all.

Leaving his body mangled inside of a wall, she begins to run away. I arm my blades and use my 3D Maneuver Gear to catch up with her, running on roofs as she stays on foot.

"Annie!" I call as I dive down, cutting a narrow piece of her flesh. Damn it, I think to myself.

I prop myself onto her head and rest my blades on her hair. She shakes her head in an attempt to get me off, but I just laugh. "Don't you see, Annie? What you've done?"

I'm about to try to take her out again, when I hear heavy footsteps falling behind me. I turn around and see Eren's Titan: his body completely on fire, running - no, crawling - recklessly, destroying the ground and buildings. I run to a nearby roof but end up taking a rougher landing than I planned, spraining a part of my calf. He attacks her and both of their screams fill the air. They slide on the ground, destroying multiple homes and creating a large cloud of collected dust and smoke.

Everybody rushes on their 3D Maneuver Gear to keep sight of the situation; they're entirely too close to the wall, but it's dangerous to intervene.

"That's," Hanji starts, her voice a large mix of emotions.

"Eren!" Mikasa yells, preparing to get off of the roof.

"Don't," Hanji commands. "We don't know if Eren can recognize you yet."

We all watch the bewildering situation before us, with no other words to say. Eren takes Annie's face in his fist and crushes it, a bit of her blood making its way onto my skin.

"Disgusting," I mutter to myself.

Eren is pushed into a building and the collision shakes us all. I count the seconds it'll be until Annie is able to make an escape, which happens to be a strong two before she sprints to the wall, digging her fingers into it.

"She intends on climbing it?!" Hanji yells, running forward. Mikasa and I follow, watching as Eren latches himself onto her, trying to pull her away.

Annie kicks him away easily and continues attempting her retreat.

"Oh no you don't!" Mikasa yells, as she cuts the fingers of the Female type. I start at the ankles, getting every sliver of flesh from her feet to her back time will allow. As Mikasa finishes the remaining hand, I bring myself to Annie's neck, Mikasa resting on her nose.

"Annie," I hear her say. "Fall."

WIth that, we both jump, Annie's huge form in freefall underneath of us, hitting the ground destructively.

Eren climbs onto Annie and begins striking her immediately. I shudder at how violent he is; I've always understood his intentions towards the Titans but have never seen him act so vicious and violent.

"No, he'll eat her real body, too!" Hanji cries.

"Stop, Eren!"

As he rips away her head, I fly down to Annie's Titan form's shoulders, intending to deal with him. I watch as his eyes widen, and see what he's looking at myself. Annie has tears coming from her closed eyes. Why's she crying? Pulling my blades, I decide to get Annie out myself. Eren isn't attacking me yet, so I assume he's able to recognize me. I stick my blades right outside of the disgusting Titan flesh and notice smoke coming from her. The body begins to melt right under my blade, and as I cock my head to the side in curiosity a brilliant blue steam comes between Eren and Annie, forcing me to fall back. It carries me mid-air, making me fall many feet behind the gigantic body. Shards of my blades fly everywhere, and I place my hand to my forehead, squinting as I look at the blinding light ahead of me. Annie's body appears to be covered in what looks to be a brilliant blue crystal as Eren's body melts.
