Eren walks towards our saviour, but ends up stumbling into Armin instead.

"This situation," he's standing on top of a titan, back turned to us, but facing us over his shoulder. "What kind of situation is this?"

We all stare up at him. Where would we even begin to start?

"Thank you," I mutter. "For saving us."

He doesn't reply, and I watch as he glances over Eren. Just as he's about to speak, Commander Pixis comes up to us.

The happiness on his face is very evident. "I can't thank you four enough for this. Not only have you succeeded in saving Trost, you've succeeded in creating humanity's first victory against the titans."

Armin grins in reply, and Mikasa's expression lightens up.

I look over at Eren, and see he can barely stand at this point. "We should probably go take him to rest," I suggest.

Armin nods as I put my other arm around Eren, supporting his body weight.

"Actually," Commander Pixis' face no longer holds a victorious smile, "Eren is to come with me. A lot of... controversy has come out of this mission."

"And where will Eren being going?" I demand.

"To the government. He's seen as a threat, if he doesn't get dealt with, it could lead to a civil war."

"He hasn't done anything wrong! He saved this entire district, dammit!" I ball my fists up.

Mikasa looks just as furious as I feel, but takes my place in holding Eren.

"You can't have him," I mutter.

The man who has just saved us from the two titans takes Eren out of Mikasa and Armin's grasp with ease.

"I'll see what I can get done," he says with a stoic expression.

"What the hell could you do?!" I retort.

"Elle," Armin looks at me with an expression that says I need to stop.

Sighing, I undo my fists and look down apologetically. "Thank you."

"You three, however, need to stay out of trouble in the meantime." If looks could kill, I would be lifeless on the ground right now.

He turns around and begins walking with Pixis.

Mikasa looks as though she's torn between crying on her knees and killing the two of them on the spot.

"Come on, guys," I whisper, my heart sinking. "Let's go see who all made it."

---

I wrap my arms around my knees and stare into the distance. I'm sitting on top of one of the half-destroyed buildings, just facing the sky as though that will make everything okay.

People I knew and grew close to are dead. Everyone that's alive has a chance of not seeing the sun rise tomorrow.

Hiding my face in my hands, I try to conceal the tears that are ready to start pouring down.

Shaking my head, I look up again. I'm alive. Thanks to the one wearing the wings of freedom. I smile, knowing that soon, I'd be wearing those wings, too. And who knows, maybe I'll be saving people like he saved my friends and I.

Then it hit me. He saved not just my life, but three of my closest friends, as well. He's going to try to keep Eren safe. And after all he's done for me in a few minutes of time, I don't even know his name.

I try to remember his face. All I remember is dark black hair and a stoic expression, and even that memory isn't too great. I was probably too exhausted, anyway.
