Chapter Fourteen - Saviour

* really long fast forward into the future to the battle of trost *

I mutter as I slice into the Titan's flesh at an angle. I'm not particularly pleased at all, considering half of my class is not qualified in the least for this.

Everything has happened so fast, from being in this battle in the first place to Eren having to move the boulder.

Sent to Riko's squad, I don't have a good view of anything that is going on, and all I really understand is that Eren can shift into a titan and that Armin is busy talking with him.

Maneuvering my way towards two titans to the left, I look swiftly behind me.

I see a cloud of smoke, but focus my vision forward again, knowing that distraction can easily lead to my death.

Taking them both down in one swift motion, I look towards the cloud of smoke, and my eyes widen at the sight.

Making my way towards the direction of the smoke, I stand beside Mikasa.

"I see he's finally got the situation under control," I smile at her, and her worried expression lightens up.

"Yes. We need to protect him, so the mission gets done." I can tell behind her serious tone she's actually very relieved.

I nod and continue slaying the titans, this time alongside my friends.

As I take down a ten meter class, I try to summarize my kill count. Six? No, seven.

After I kill one more, I look behind me, and see a squad running. On the ground.

I look towards Armin, who's directly above them.

"What are they doing?" I mouth.

"I don't know." I sigh as I notice how frantic he looks, and the screaming coming from below.

Are they trying to lure the titans away?

Shaking my head at the scene below me, I debate whether I go and follow them or help get rid of the titans going for Eren.

I go with option two, considering that was the task given to me the first place.

Eren'sonlyabouttwentymetersfromthehole, I think. Even with that short distance, there's far too many titans.

I count seven of them.

"Defend Eren at all costs," I hear behind me, and see four others going after the titans.

As I go through the air, I draw my blades and slice through a frowning fifteen meter class.

I'mgoingtorunoutofgas, soon, I realize.

Landing on a half destroyed building, I look over my shoulder. A green smoke round is right behind me, flowing through the bright blue sky.

I focus my attention on Mikasa and Armin, who are directly underneath of it.

Using my remaining gas, I fly down to them and watch as Eren comes out of the smoking, disintegrating titan body.

"We're lucky to have survived," Armin whispers to me, as Mikasa carries a restless Eren to us.

"I just ran out of gas," I mutter.

As I look up at Mikasa, I notice her attention is focusing behind us. Looking behind me, I see two of the tall monstrosities behind us.

I can't begin to explain the millions of things running through my mind. You know what they say about your life flashing before your eyes? Yeah, well that is what is happening to me.

From my mother's knowing smile, to my father's glimmering eyes, of which I inherited. My best friend in junior high, to Levi, and--- Levi. I feel my eyes moisten over. The boy who's grey jacket I was wearing at this very moment, the boy who would be incredibly strong but have nightmares, too. The boy that cleaned obsessively. The boy that wanted to keep me from the death I'm facing this very moment, and helped train me to do so, and helped calm my mom, who feared this moment would come as well.

And right as I begin to remember the lips that kissed me; the voice that told me to live, I open my eyes and see a green cape holding the wings of freedom and dark black hair slay the two titans in front of me.

And it is that instant, that I realize how quick despair can turn into hope, how soon death can be turned into life, and how in just a moment, everything can change.

authors note; yes, its short, but that happens when you write this at one o clock in the morning ( I felt so guilty!)

I was going to make it a while until Levi came back buuuuuuuut ; I had a sudden change of heart as to what the plot was going to be. (don't worry, its for the better)
