//Two days before Estelle leaves.//
I land back on the mat and grunt, wiping sweat from my forehead.
Quickly getting up, I charge at Levi and grab him from behind the knee, throwing off his balance.
He falls back slightly but quickly regains his balance, taking a few sips from his water bottle. "You're not as weak as I made you out to be."
"You're not so bad yourself," I tease. Despite his short stature, he seriously is strong.
"Tch."
We exit the school building quickly and begin walking along our usual path to Levi's house. I look up at the sky and sigh. "This will be our last time walking together."
"Oh? It isn't like anybody is making you go," he retorts.
"It'll be better for me to be out there fighting then for me to be here living as if nothing's happening," I sigh, playing with the zipper of the grey jacket he had given me that I've been accustomed to wearing.
"You still have that piece of shit?" He asks in a monotonous voice, glancing at the jacket.
"Yeah, uh, it smells nice, kind of like..." I purse my lips in thought.
"Like?"
"Laundry detergent. And," I sniff the jacket playfully, "tea."
"Oh? So you're saying you have a laundry detergent fetish? You are one creepy girl.."
"N-no! Not at all!"
We arrive at his house and I step into the completely clean, spotless domain.
He begins cooking a stew and I help him out with the cooking process every once in a while. Us cooking together, or rather, him cooking while I pretend to help out, has become a minor everyday thing as of late.
"Two days," I sigh, kicking my legs into the air off of his counter.
"Why are you sighing?" He asks, whilst turning off the stove. "Aren't you happy to finally be leaving? You do keep bringing it up."
"It isn't like that," I pout. "I'm going to miss you, of course."
He purses his lips and begins pouring the soup into his bowl, and then into mine.
"Literature's going to be more boring than usual," he mutters.
I blink. "Yeah, I guess."
We sit and eat in silence. Once Levi is finished he immediately cleans up his bowl and retreats to a room I hadn't seen before. I decide it's best not to bother him and continue eating, slowly, while thinking.
It seems to me that Levi was upset is I'm leaving, but that couldn't be it, right? I don't even know why he talks to me, or even lets me come to his house.
The kiss, I think.
I run my fingertips over my lips and remember the way he has kissed me. I never really thought about why he did it, but now that I have this brought up in my mind, I can't stop thinking about it.
I've acknowledged my feelings towards Levi before, assessing if I like him romantically or not, but I haven't come to a conclusion about it.
Maybe I should just ask him.
I feel my face redden at the thought of that. Asking would require confessing. Confessing would require him knowing of my feelings that I don't even know of myself.
Sighing into my palms, I sigh and rinse off my bowl, coming to the decision that I'll go find him and try to be brave by asking.
I walk up to the door he went into. I haven't seen this room before.
As I'm about to open the door, a noise catches my attention.
I recognize a piano being played, and press my ear against the door. The playing is beautiful and slow but precise; a melody being played in soft notes.
Levi plays piano? I'm not aware that he even has a taste in music.
Leaning against the door, I listen intently. After a minute or two, the music comes to a stop, and after a few seconds, he begins another song.
I take in a deep, sharp breath and open the door silently, and begin heading down the steps. With his back turned to me, he continues playing, softly humming along to the music as his fingers dance over the keys.
As he swiftly finishes the song, I clap a few feet behind him.
He looks over his shoulder and almost falls off of the bench. "Holy shit!" he yells.
"A-are you okay?" I ask, helping him up.
He pushes my hands away and rolls his eyes at me. "Don't scare me like that, brat."
"You play beautifully," I beam.
"Th-thanks," he stammers, looking down.
"I didn't know you played piano?"
"I don't. Usually." He brushes his pants with his hands and I can tell that he's lying.
I bite my lip. Just ask him. Ask him before it's too late. You only have two days left.
"L-Levi?"
"What is it?" he looks up at me.
"How do you feel about me?"
