My eyebrows furrowed. I took a step back, releasing my hand from Nick's.

'What?" I managed to say.

He took a deep breath before looking up, "She's dead."

A million things ran through my mind, yet I couldn't think of anything to say. I was really at a loss for words.

What even came out from his mouth? What did he just tell me? For some reason, I couldn't get myself to put it all together.

"Wait.. What? I.. I-" Words wouldn't form.

"There. You wanted to know, and I told you. There you go." He whispered.

"Can you explain what happened?" For some reason, I kept on taking steps back.

"Let's just walk back to my house." He murmured, "I'll tell you when we get there."

We began walking. Our pace was slow, and quiet. Although it was only us two walking, it was as if no food steps could be heard when our feet hit the cold, hard pavement. Nick's previously deep breaths, were calm and silent.

I did feel bad about forcing him to tell me. I mean, I wouldn't wanna talk about something personal like that. I definitely would be pissed off if Nick forced me to tell him something like this. I can't imagine how he feels.

Once we got to his house, he sat on the porch and looked at me. His eyes weren't red and puffy, but then again, I've never seen him cry.

"Okay, so.." He started, his voice shaky.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. It's early in the day, and so many things have already happened.." I whispered, putting my hand on his shoulder.

"Well, you already know, so I might as well tell you." He smiled slightly.

"Okay."

"We were dating. It was a long time.. Well, for me anyway. 10 months, if you'd consider that long. She was great," he looked up into the sky. "Blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and that an adorable giggle. Kind of sounded like yours, actually."

I nodded my head and tried to imagine what she'd look like.

"She was really nice and caring. Everyone said she had a heart of gold! I think it was true. When it was almost our 11th month, she told me that she wasn't feeling it anymore. I guess I could've done something, I should've. Instead, I sat on my porch, looked her in the eyes, and told her that she wasn't all that great. It was all the anger in me, I guess. I didn't mean it at all...."

--

..."What?" Alexa stuttered, covering her mouth.

"I was gonna break up with you anyway, so thanks to you, I didn't have to struggle to find a way to put you down easily." I said confidently.

"Are you serious? Are you not even one bit sad? Confused?" She asked.

"What is there to be sad about? Even if I'm sad, it doesn't change the fact that we're over and you lost feelings. Honestly, Alexa, I don't know why you're so upset. You broke up with me, not the other way around." I stated. "What is there to be confused about? We're over, and that's it."

--

"I definitely didn't mean anything I said. I mean, I was angry, and I was frustrated." He vented, "Anyway, she was upset that I wasn't upset, like it was some test, right? What hurt the most was that she looked me straight in the eyes and told me that if I ever needed someone, I could talk to her. How could I be such a dick to someone so great?"
