The bell rang and everyone sprang out of their desks. The teacher wished everyone a good weekend as they piled up at the door. I stayed behind, packing my stuff into my empty green back pack. The classroom was almost entirely empty. Almost.
"Have a great weekend," I said as I walked out of the classroom.
"I hope that helped you two," my teacher stated.
"What do you mean?" Nick asked.
"Do you two think I couldn't tell? The amount of awkwardness in this room for the past weeks have been over the wall," she ranted. "I may be older than you two, but I'm not dumb! Are you two finally gonna talk?"
"We do talk," I stated. "Just not as much as before."
"That's the problem," Nick whispered.
"How strange is it that you two both missed each other, yet neither of you said anything to each other." She laughed.
"I was scared, I guess," I said as I walked over to her desk. "I didn't know he felt like that. He had a girl friend!"
"You had another boyfriend too. Don't forget that," Nick announced, standing beside me.
"We broke up because I couldn't stop thinking about you," I whispered.
"Maybe you two so need to talk... But maybe outside of my classroom," she chuckled.
"Oh yeah, sorry miss," Nick smiled charmingly.
She smiled, "I hope everything works out."
Nick and I walked out of the classroom, side by side.
It was weird standing beside him again. I felt deprived of his presence, deprived of just being with him. Strangely enough, I felt like something in me was complete again. As if something was missing, and I finally found out what it was. Nick.
"You could've told me," I stated with a giggle.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He joked along.
"Honestly, I was scared that you didn't feel the same."
"That's why I didn't tell you," he stated.
I walked to my locker, "are you doing anything right now?"
"I'm going home."
"Can we talk or something?"
"Well, if you want. But where?"
"We can go to my house. My parents won't be home until later... And even if they come home early, they won't mind seeing you there," I suggested.
"Then I guess we're going to your house." He smiled.
-
"Do you need anything? A drink? Food?" I offered.
"I'm good," he smiled as he made himself comfortable on my couch. "I've got to admit, I've missed this place."
I nodded, "I don't think we should get back together."
"What?" He asked confused.
"I don't think it'd be good for both of us to just get back together right away," I explained.
"That's true," he nodded.
"Exactly. I'm glad you understand," I smiled.
"You know, it's true... Everything in that letter."
"Same with mine," I smiled.
"Do you actually still have that hoodie?" He chuckled.
"I wear it when I'm doing homework. Sometimes I even wear it to sleep." I sighed," it doesn't smell like you anymore."
