Chapter 12:

The days passed by quickly, and soon enough, Nick was back in town. Although he was back, I didn't see him much during class because he was too busy catching up on what he missed. I didn't mind it much, considering I had to focus on school too.

He would apparently shoot glances at me during class and smile. (apparently because I never really caught him staring, my friends did.)

"I have to finish my math homework. Hopefully I can finish it during spare so I don't have to bring it home." Kiera stated as she held her books close to her chest.

"Yeah, I want to try and finish my LA stuff before I get home. I don't like bringing around a bunch of things when I walk home." Camille stated.

"When did you start walking home?" I asked, quickly walking to my locker.

"Just today and tomorrow. Possibly the next day too." She replied. "I get home faster that way, but I end up with messy hair and tired legs."

"Ariana and I walk home all the time. You should come with us," Kiera stated, throwing her things into her locker.

"Yeah. At least you won't be alone." I stated.

She smiled, "Sounds great."

"Yeah, the weather has been so nice lately. I actually love it." I smiled.

"Yes," Camille locked her locker, holding a juicebox in her hand. "It's better than it being super cold."

We all nodded in agreement.

I pulled out my lunch, then shut my locker. I swiftly made my way to Kiera's locker, holding my brown paper bag loosely in my hand. Kiera seemed to be taking her time at her locker, and she ended up making conversation with some guy before she even finished getting everything out.

"Locker," I whispered, almost butting into the conversation.

"Oh, sorry." She said quietly, grabbing her lunch out of her bag and slamming the locker door shut.

"I've been so hungry today. It feels like it's been the longest morning ever," I groaned.

"I agree. Luckily it's Friday." Camille smiled.

We quickly made our way to our lunch table, trying to get the best spot to sit. We made ourselves comfortable sitting on the chairs closest to the wall. Soon, we were joined by everyone else.

"Where's Nick?" They asked.

"Probably catching up on school or something," I shrugged. "He's been doing that all week."

"Well, at least tomorrow is a weekend. Maybe you two could hang out?" Kiera suggested.

"I guess. I thought we were having that party for someone though?" I asked.

"Oh yeah, the 16th birthday party for Alyssa." Camille nodded.

"It's at like 5, right?" I asked.

"Yeah! She only invited a few, but I know it'll be fun." Camille continued.

"Definitely." We all agreed.

It seemed as if the last minutes of the last class were the longest. I mean, it was 3 minutes until I could leave the school, yet it felt as if 5 minutes had already passes, when in reality, only 1 minute did. My last few minutes in class consisted of me staring at the clock, waiting for to to strike 3:00.

"Finish the last few questions at home, don't forget!" The teacher announced as I packed up my books.

"Are you really gonna do it? The work?" Nash said, tapping me on the shoulder.
