After staring into the stars for what seemed like hours, it finally began to get colder. That was the sign to leave.
Nick and I got back into the car, buckled up, then he immediately began to drive back onto the road. This time, I decided to try and distract myself from staring at Nick, so I looked out the window instead. I stared at the speeding cars, and tried to differentiate the people. No success. I also stared up into the sky, looking at how the closer we got to the neighbourhood, the less bright the stars shone. The less bright they shone, the sadder I got.
Before I knew it, we were parked in front of my house. Nick took out the keys and began to uncbuckle his seatbelt.
"Where are you going?" I asked.
"I'm gonna walk you to your door. I mean, that's what you're supposed to do." He chuckled.
"But my dad talked to you, didn't he?"
"Yeah. Wouldn't he like it if I walked you to the door like a mature guy. Look, we're half an hour early." He said proudly.
"Do you really wanna?"
"Yes, I do."
"Fine, let's go. Just don't kiss me or anything, okay? He'll have a fit."
"Fine with me." He replied, raising his hands in the air.
We both got out of the car and walked to my front door. Nick fixed his shirts before ringing the door bell. We both waited patiently.
"Are they asleep?" He asked.
"It's too early. It's only 10."
"Maybe they're in the washroom?"
"At the same time? I don't think so."
"It's a possibility." He shrugged.
"Look, I can see the shadown coming down the stairs. For your sake, let's hope its my mom." I whispered.
Luck wasn't on Nick's side, apparently, because my dad opened the door. He smiled at me, looked at Nick, and his smile got smaller. It still remained on his face. He turned around to look at the clock, then turned back to us and gave Nick a nod. A smile grew on Nick's face as I walked into my house.
"Come in, Nick." My dad said calmy as he opened the door wider.
"Of course," Nick smiled.
He gave me a 'what is happening right now?' kind of look, then plastered a smile on his face when he turned to look at my dad.
"So what did you two do?" My dad asked.
"We went to dinner, a-"
"Yeah, Nick too me to this amazing diner. t was so cute. We should go one time. We stayed there for a long time, that's why it's like 10." I interupted.
"We'll have to try it." My dad nodded, "Thank you for bringing my daughter back home safely."
"No problem, Sir." Nick beamed.
"I'll be expecting it like this whenever you two go on dates. Good job for being early, by the way." He nodded. "As they say, when you're on time, you're already late."
"Yes sir. I'll head out now. You guys have a great night." Nick said kindly.
"You as well." My dad replied.
"Well, have a good night." Nick said calmly as I stood beside my dad. "Good night, Ariana."
I gave him an encouraging nod as he twisted the door handle. He smiled at my dad and I before closing the door behind him.
I quickly ran up the stairs, and into the bonus room where the biggest window was. I knocked on the window and waved so he could see me. He waved back at me before getting into his car and driving out of my drive way.
I began walking to my room when my dad stopped me, "I like him. Nick seems like a very great boy."
"He is."
"Get to bed now. You'll have an early morning tomorrow." He said as he walked into his room.
I closed the door behind me, quickly changing into my pajamas and taking off the makeup that was on my face. Just as I was about to tuck myself into my bed, the door bell rang. I sprang to my feet and ran to the door to answer it. Who knew why I was so quick to open the door at 10?
Nick was standing behind the door with his hands in his sweatpants pockets.
"Why are you here?" I whispered. "And how in the world did you change so fast?"
"To answer one of those questions, I'm a guy, and we change pretty quick." He chuckled quietly. "Second, I forgot to give you something."
"Hurry Nick. My dad might come down and he'll be pissed." I said as I walked out onto the porch.
"I just-"
I interrupted like I always did, "You should've texted me, or called me to open the door. Who knows? What if my dad is sitting on the stairs waiting for me to come in and get mad at me for you being here?"
"Ariana, just-"
"I mean, my dad likes you a lot. He literally just told me. But because of that, he expects a lot from you. I don't think coming here out of no where after seeing me is gonna-"
This time, it was different. I wasn't the one interupting Nick with my words, but it was Nick. He interupted me with his lips. A kiss, out of no where.
As if by instinct, my arms fell to my sides, and my eyes immediately shut. It was a moment of full bliss.
