I took a final glance at the nature before me, then stood up to follow Nick out of the area. He walked quickly, as if he was trying not to get caught. Not like anyone would be here anyway. It was abandoned, really.
He held the man cut wire gate open so that I could leave, looking at me with soft and happy eyes.
"Let's go." He said as I came closer.
"You better not check out my butt when I crawl through here," I joked.
"No promises." He winked.
I shot him a look.
"I'm kidding!" I said, holding his arms up in defense.
"Yeah, sure." I murmured as I tried to quickly go through the wire fence. I made it out with minimal leaves in my hair.
"So where are we off to?" I asked as I leaned against the hood of his car.
"Um," he whispered as he adjusted the fence. "Surprise. Tonight is just full of surprises."
"Although this was cute and all, I would enjoy being in an actual restaurant or something. I did dress up," I said as I opened his car door.
"Don't worry," he replied as he got into the car, "We're gonna eat somewhere."
"Good," I said as I buckled my seat belt.
I took out my phone and scrolled through my unread text messages and notifications. I didn't miss much.
"Are you hungry?" He asked.
"Of course. I always am." I replied softly.
"To kill the surprise, we're going to a diner." He shrugged, "If that's good for you."
"It's good." I whispered.
He drove quickly. Faster than he was driving previously. His right hand gripped the wheel while his left arm sat lightly on his open window. It was quite nice out.
I stared at Nick while he drove. As creepy as it sounded, he looked like he ws at his best. I mean, he was at his best all the time, but he looked different. He looked calm, yet so focused and interested. His jaw always seemed to be clenched, making his jawline look amazing. More amazing than usual. His eye brows furrowed a little bit, making him look somewhat angry. His face softened as he looked at me.
"Is there something on my face?" He asked, giving me a small smile.
I shook my head and smiled, "Nope."
He turned back to look at the road, then looked at me again. "Did I tell you how amazing you look?"
I smiled.
"Well, you look amazing. No, absolutely breathtaking."
"Thanks," I whispered.
"Has anyone ever told you that? How great you are?"
"I mean, my mom does but I don't think that counts."
"You deserve to hear it everyday." He replied simply, "You really do."

We sat in the booths, looking through the menu and pointing at different food that looked good.
The restaurant was pretty cool. It had a vintage looking feel to it, with its juke box in the corner and the waitresses skating around taking orders. I think that was the entire theme because everyone that worked there seemed to look all vintage.
"Ready, huns?" A young woman asked as she skated towards our table.
He hair was up and somewhat volumized, with tight curls at the end of the hair. Her lips were bright read, and her cat eyeliner was very bold. She looked like one of those vintage, Hollywood actresses, minus the fact that she was in a cute little waitress outfit.
"I'll just get a burger and fries with your vanilla shake," I said as I pointed to the picture.
"Okay. How about you hun?" She stated as she turned to Nick.
"I'll get the chicken strips and fries with just Coke to drink." He smiled.
"Perfect! Your orders will be up soon." She stated as she skated away with our menus.
"Not the kind of scene you were expecting, huh?" He asked.
"Not really. But it's definitely different from other dates I've been on." I shrugged.
"You've been on other dates?" He asked, wide eyed.
"Yeah. You've been on other dates too." I said with a laugh.
"What did you do on your other dates?" He asked curiously.
"Well once, I went to a movie, then dinner. Another time I went to this 5 star restaurant. Also, once I went to the zoo, then ate hot dogs and stuff." I replied.
"How many dates have you been on? How many people have you dated?"
"I've been on a lot of dates. I've only dated like 2 guys out of those 50 dates." I laughed. "I don't consider it real relationships because I didn't feel anything."
The waitress came with out drinks and set them on the table. I took a sip of my milkshake.
"So whats this? What would you consider us?" He asked seriously. "Real or what?"
I took another sip, and without looking up, replied, "Real. Definitely real."
