I bit the inside of my cheek before saying anything. I really didn't want to say anything. He poured his heart out to me, and I didn't have anything to say. I didn't even have anything that could compare to what he told me.

"I don't know what to say..." I whispered.

"Don't worry. It's not everyday that you hear about a dead ex girlfriend." He smiled.

"I don't understand how you're so put together." I stated.

"Well, once you tell that story 5 or 10 times, you kinda don't act as emotional as you were before.. I still do tear up here and there, but I don't go all out anymore. You wouldn't wanna see that anyway."

"Are you gonna visit her? Like, visit her grave?" I asked cautiously.

"Well, my mom wants to go back and visit her mom. I'm probably gonna go back too. I'm gonna miss a few days of school, but I think it'll be easy to catch up." He replied calmly.

"That sounds really good, actually. I'm glad you told me, Nick." I whispered, "I know it must've been hard, and you didn't really have a choice."

He chuckled, then stood up. "I'm gonna go inside. You wanna come?"

"No," I replied, "I better get home before my parents realize I'm gone."

He nodded his head a smiled, "get home safe."

"I will. If you need to talk, don't hesitate to call." I stated as I stood up, dusting the imaginary dust off my pants.

NICKS POV

Once Ariana was far enough that I couldn't see her, I walked back into my house and slumped onto the couch. My mom came to the living room quickly and sat beside me.

"You told her? You were out there for a long time," she shrugged.

"Yeah, I did. She knows everything now."

"Good," my mom whispered. "I really like Ariana, Nicholas."

"Me too, mom." I laughed.

"So you'll be fine with going back. Ariana knows the situation, so she knows why you'll be going back."

"Yeah." I nodded hesitantly.

"I'd hope so," she giggled. "Let's go check the drawers for Chinese food menus. I'm craviing take out."

I nodded my head as she stood up off the couch and made her way back to the kitchen.

I leaned my back on the couch cushions and rubbed my temples. Letting out a big sigh, I closed my eyes and began to think back to the day of Alexa's funeral.

-

"Do we have to go?" I whispered.

"Yes, Nicholas. It's gonna be hard, I know. It's okay to cry." She replied as she used the lint roller on her black dress.

I adjusted my black tie, then looked at myself in the mirror. I looked like a zombie. A straight up no sleep, baggy eyed zombie. "I'm pretty sure if I go, they'll think I just rose from the dead. Mom, I look dead."

"You look fine. Stop complaining." My mom groaned as she put a couple tissues into her big beige purse.

"What is the point of funerals? Oh, someone I really love died, so I want to have a bunch of people come and see them get buried under the ground and we'll never see them again! Fun!"

"Nicholas!" She exclaimed. "I know that you don't want to go because you don't want to cry, or you don't want people to see you crying. You and I know damn wwell that Alexa, if you were with her or not, would want you to be there."

It seemed as if I couldn't speak anymore. My knees got shaky, and I bit my bottom lip immediately.

We were going to Alexa's funeral. She was gonna be buried underground, and I'd never see her again. This was real, and it was happening. It wasn't some dream that I could just wake up from, and everything would be okay. She was gone.. Forever. This was my last time to say good bye.

-

"Nicholas, Chinese or pizza?" My mom yelled from the kitchen, interupting me from my thoughts.

I heard her foot steps coming closer. "Mom, I can't do this."

"You can't chose between pizza and Chinese?" She asked raising a brow.

"I can't go back to our old house. I can't drive on that too familiar road, I can't see Alexa's family. I can't do it, Mom. I can't go back."

She immediately enveloped me into a hug. I dug my head into her shoulder, and let all the tears I was holding back, escape from my eyes.

ARIANAS POV

"I'm telling your dad to go to the grocery store. There is nothing that can be cooked in the fridge!" My mom exclaimed as she slammed the fridge door shut.

"How about we just order Chinese? I suggest some chicken wings, friend rice, and some sort of sea food." I stated as I looked up from my books.

School was approaching quicker than I hoped. Although the winter vacation was fun, school was something I had to go to. I literally had to. I was forced to.

"I guess," My mom sighed as she picked up a Chinese food menu from a binder by the phone.

She immediately dialed the number, ordered the food, then ended with a polite thank you.

"I'll be in my room," I said as I stacked my books in my arms.

"I'll call you when the food comes." She smiled as she took a seat at the kitchen table.

I quickly went up the stairs and into my room, placing my books onto my desk, then slamming myself onto my bed and immediately scrolling through my phone.

Suddenly, I got a call. It was strange because usually, people would just text. The only people that usually called me were my parents. That was only because my mom got frustrated with texting, and my dad constantly complained about how his fingers were too fat to type anything on the keyboards.

"Hello?" I said as I answered the call.

"Ariana? Hi." Nick said frantically.

"Are you okay? Is everything okay?" I asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just wanted to ask you a question." His voice calmed down.

"What's your question?"

"Let's go on a date tomorrow. Just you and me at a restaurant. A nice one. The kind that you have to dress nice just to get in. We can order expensive food, and stay there for a long time just laughing and talking. What do you say?"
