---Chapter Twelve; What Were You Going To Say?---あなたは何を言うつもりでしたか?
(What were you going to say?)
I allowed my body to relax slowly in the water, my muscles and mind becoming captivated in my current state. My half-lidded eyes examined the deep majestic water that captured me all together, how it held me carefully in its arms, and how it led me with no escape. The purple lace night gown I was attired in swept smoothly as if it was wind itself. A smile grew on my lips. I widened my eyes a little when I noticed bubbles sprouting from where I took a breathe, then I stupidly remembered. . . you can't breathe underwater.
How long had I been floating here? Maybe not long, because if so, I'd be dead. I gathered my inner strength and used my arms and legs to drive myself upward, swimming my head back and gasping loudly once I hit the surface. I closed my eyes shut and coughed like crazy, my nose beginning to burn as I did so. "H-Huh? Haruka! Are you alright?" a worried toned voice rang out, making me glare and turn my body around in the water.
"You idiot! What the heck was that for!" I yelled, angrily. How could Tamaki do that so casually? He blinked a couple of times in confusion before his lips crippled up, his laugh soon filling up the tension in the room. H-Huh? I frowned deeply and pushed my wet hair back. "I-I'm sorry! Haha! Really, I am! But, you just look so adorable and funny right now!" he said, laughing through parts of his sentence.
I gritted my teeth together, looking away. To be honest, it's not so bad actually. I haven't been swimming in so long, I've forgotten how pool water feels against my body. It's. . . . relaxing.
"Haruka-Chan. . . " Tamaki said and I looked back him. He grinned, holding his nose with his hand and before I knew it he had jumped in the water, causing me to cover my eyes as the water splashed violently in my face. "T-Tamaki!" I groaned, moving my hands back to my side, jumping when Tamaki appeared from out under the water. He chuckled and met my eyes.
"So, how does It feel?" he asked. I took some time to catch my breath and stared at Tamaki. "Amazing. . ." I whispered slowly and looked at my damp hands. Tamaki sighed and grabbed my hands lovingly, and I blushed dark red as Tamaki swam closer to me. "You should feel amazing all the time. . ." he mumbled and pressed his forehead with mine. I felt my body burst into flames despite the coldness surrounding us. I suddenly felt nervous and scared, like I was having my first kiss.
I gulped and moved my eyes up to meet Tamaki's glistening one's. "Haruka. . . can I tell you something?" Tamaki asked, biting his lip. My heart, why is my stupid heart beating so loud! "Y-Y-Y-Yes. . . " I stuttered. His cheeks tinted light pink and he took a deep breath. "I think. . . I. . I. . I lov-"
A knock from the glass door interrupted Tamaki's sentence and we both looked to where the noise came from, only to see a maid in uniform politely asking for our attention. Tamaki quickly released my hands and swam back away from me, coughing awkwardly and giving a signal for the maid to enter. Tamaki. . . what was that? I felt the need to pry and ask him to continue but I knew right now wasn't the time.
"I'm sorry to interrupt the moment but breakfast is ready Mr. Suoh." she announced and bowed. Tamaki looked a bit agitated but tried his best not to show it. "Thank you Ms. Hayashi, we'll be there in a second!" he said brightly, showing off his grin. "I'll also prepare you dry clothes, if that's alright with you." she informed, scanning him up and down. Tamaki chuckled dryly. "Thank you very much." he said, and with that she gave me a slight nod and left us.
Tamaki sighed lowly. "Sorry about that. . . but. . . we should get out of here." he said and glanced at me. "I agree." I muttered and watched him get out of the pool, soon afterwards letting him help me out too. "There you go Haruka." he said and released my hands, the short warmth from them that I felt disappearing rather fast. "Thank you. . ." I mumbled softly which made Tamaki look up.
"Hm? What are you talking about princess?" he asked and for once I actually ignored the nickname he's given me and other females around Ouran Academy. "You know what I'm talking about. . ." I said nonchantly, grabbing some parts of the wet nightgown and ringing it out. Tamaki chuckled. "It was nothing Haruka-Chan, I just wanted to do you. . . a favor I suppose." he said and began ringing some parts of his uniform jacket off.
Tamaki shook his hands and began his way out the room when all of a sudden I felt my body jerk forward and my hand instantly grab his arm. I didn't dare look at him and faced my direction down, biting my lip. "No, I'm serious Tamaki. . . thank you. I-I haven't felt like this in a long time. . so. . I-I'm really thankful. My grandma. . .we use to do thing's like this all the time. . . but she's gone now s-s-so I-I-" I closed my eyes shut, knowing that the dam that stopped my tears was about to break.
I felt Tamaki's cold hand come into contact with my cheek, pulling my face up so that he could see me better. "You're welcome Haruka-Chan." he said softly. I couldn't tell if my hands were wet from the pool or just clammy from how close I was with Tamaki. My head was hurting and my body was hot all over. It's. . . everything I felt with Haruhi. Only a little different. . .
"Let's go eat darling. . .the competitions soon too, right? Maybe afterwards we can practice a bit. . .we own a violin so you can play that. . " he said smoothly.
I only nodded in reply, curiousness running through my body as I desperately felt the need to know what Tamaki was going to say. . .
