All of the sudden there was a knock at the door of the old cottage. Maggie jumped, and got up to answer it. She was stiff and slow but she got there. She saw her Great niece, Canella standing there. She hugged her Great aunt with affection; like a secondary mother.
"Come on inside dear." Maggie insisted, Canella did as she was requested.
The two young witches were listening to who had been there as they casually sipped their tea. They just looked at each other sharing just a glimpse of hope for Trinity's fate.
Gwen hoped that her new friend would be able to stay, the girl belonged here in this reality, no matter where she had been from. Gwen had never felt such a pull to someone she barely knew. She silently prayed to the Goddess of fate. Gwen concentrated with all of her positive force and inner light.
'Great one of the fates, please help me keep her in this place, where her soul needs to be with faith and love, blessed be.'
She repeated it three times with a force she almost didn't recognize. It was strange; her powers were growing whenever she focused on Trinity. It was interesting; she wanted to explore the theory further. She needed to keep Trinity in Galderia to do so. She looked at Canella, wishing she could just read her mind or perform thought placement. Gwen could do it; she knew how but she also knew it was really wrong . She just waited for the watcher to sit and have a cup of tea. Gwen was polite; as always. Canella had greeted all of them with kind eyes. The time seemed to nearly stop while Gwen waited for Trinity to ask her watcher about moving to this realm. She was feeling giddy with anticipation.
Trinity did her very best not to show her lack of nerves, scared of what Canella would say to her once she asked. She was still bound and determined to stay here in this magical place with her new kindred soul, Gwen. She took a long deep breath; looking at Maggie who was pouring more tea for all of them. Trinity then looked over to Gwen, who gave her a nod of encouragement. She sipped her tea for a moment, before she finally had to just blurt it out.
"I don't want to return I wish to remain here, please." Trinity spat the words out as if they tasted like bile.
Canella looked at her, and then looking off in the distance she closed her eyes and took a long breath of air.
"It is up to you, sorceress. I must warn you of what will happen before you decide on this action."
"What is it?" Trinity asked with a puzzled look.
"It will alter your memories; your thoughts can handle either the magical world or the physical but not both of them."
Trinity nodded to Canella in agreement.
"You can never get back; once the portal closes that's it. There's no going home in a month when things aren't going your way." Canella warned with complete seriousness.
"Yes, of course. I understand, there is no running home if things don't go according to plan."
"Good, as long as you understand that, it is up to you where you remain." Canella told her, and waited for the young one to react.
Canella knew teenagers quite well; she waited for the three second pause before the squealing to begin. Sure enough, Trinity let out the irritating sound, it reminded her of a banshee in the night, and then the other young witch began to rise from her seat to jump up and down with excitement as well.
"Calm yourselves girls, you'll make the cottage rattle and quake." Maggie chimed in.
Canella began to laugh at her old aunt, who always knew what to do. Canella didn't hate young teenagers, she just didn't care for the irritating sounds they could make.
"So where are you going to stay?" Canella asked her student.
"I hadn't thought that far ahead. I honestly don't know." Trinity replied with a hint of embarrassment; she was usually very level headed even for being at the tail end of her teens.
"It will be fine, I'm sure." Maggie tried to console the girl for now.
"Thank you, such an angelic woman." Trinity replied to Maggie's kind words.
"It will be fine, for a few nights I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind an extra hand with chores, we could have an extended sleep over." Gwen suggested, always the bright light of any given situation.
"How thoughtful of you." Canella stated to them.
"I have an idea, with you two getting on so well I will teach magic to both of you, Gwen bring her on your lesson days." Maggie announced before going into the tiny kitchen to get a cup for Canella, and brew more tea. She didn't always like company but she enjoyed seeing her little table surrounded with friends and family.
"Thank you, Gwen I think it would be nice, I was an only child of my mother's, it's funny I don't remember her name. That's strange, don't you think?"
"It's a side effect of moving to another dimension." Canella informed her flatly.
Trinity simply nodded and sipped the rest of her tea, as did Gwen. Soon the tea kettle went off, this time no one jumped. Trinity was finally home. Galderia had always been her home; though she never knew of it before now. She couldn't wait for this adventure to begin; her new life was getting ready to start.
Maggie brought in the fresh brewed tea in a porcelain white teapot designed with little red flowers all over it. It was too cute not to admire.
Maggie gracefully filled everyone's cups with the steaming liquid. It smelled wonderful to Trinity, as if she remembered it from a life she hasn't experienced yet. It was interesting to say the least, something she would add to her book of shadows when she got to it again. Canella and Maggie were in their own zone, deep into a conversation, so Gwen turned to Trinity.
"I'm so glad you are able to stay here without any issues over it."
"Thanks, me too. I can't wait to get to know everyone and more about Galderia."
"I will do anything I can to help ." Gwen spoke with sincerity in her voice.
Trinity smiled and then hugged her new best friend. The four of them sipped their tea having a great visit, until Gwen and Trinity needed to head back. They thanked Maggie and Canella for a good visit before exiting the cottage and returning through town and back to Gwen's. It didn't seem to take that long to return through town, introducing Trinity to a few of the town's people as they met them. They had been out longer than they thought as their day was coming to an end. It was just past sunset when they reached the massive bright green hill, leading up to Gwen's home. The two girls ran up the hill together filled with excitement of things to come.
Once the two were in the cottage, Gwen took her mother aside to ask about Trinity staying with them and helping with the chores to earn her keep. Sofia thought it over, leaving Gwen to anticipate her mother's final word on it. Sophia was quiet for what seemed forever before giving into the request. Gwen hugged her mother to thank her, and then she grabbed Trinity by the arm so they could have some time to talk.
