Chapter 16: More Johnny
Logan
I walked along the field while having a cigarette. It was the middle of class but I was kicked out for throwing a pencil at the back of Melody's head. It wasn't my fault, the pencil ended up in my hand and suddenly it was thrown at Melody's head. It wasn't even my damn pencil, so how could the teacher blame me?
I blew out a cloud of smoke angrily and I rubbed my tired eyes until a voice broke through my thoughts;
"Blackwood, get your head in the game! We face Union on Friday!" Someone bellowed and I looked up and saw the boys football practice. Apparently, athletics at this school were more
important than work. But then again, most kids here work in their pack so who cares about school...I like school. I like learning new things, I just hated all the damn rules sometimes...and the people.
I walked to the side of the bleachers, holding onto the metal frame to not make it look like I was totally creeping on the practice. The Blackwood the coach was yelling at jogged to the sidelines and my eyes trailed up his covered arms that bulged through the black sleeves and then up to his face when he took off his helmet and shook out his sweaty hair.
Johnny.
He was all sweaty and dirty and it was kind of hot. I blinked in surprised while watching him, he ran a hand through his hair, pushing back the dark black strands. He didn't even notice me as his gaze casted downwards, an annoyed look on his face.
He fixed the strands of hair and took another drink before sliding his helmet back on and buckling it up. He jogged back onto the field and over to the small huddle of other guys in the same jersey as him and they started a new play where the ball was given to Johnny and he stepped back before throwing what I thought was a really nice pass down the field to one of his players. Now, I knew nothing about football but from the cheers and howls from his teammates, I'm guessing he made a good pass.
I watched intently, usually Johnny and his friends were brooding and keeping to themselves, but out here, they were laughing and joking around. It looked like they were having fun to me and I couldn't help but keep watching. Until, I felt my phone go off in the pocket of my jeans.
Sammy- The teacher is looking for u lol. Where the fuck did u go?
I grinned at Sammy's name on the screen and responded back saying I was watching cute boys play football and he responded back immediately.
Sammy- Is Finn playing? ;)
I laughed and looked up and my eyes landed on the familiar tattoos that Finn had. I couldn't even see the usual ones that adorned Johnny's neck.
Minutes later I heard running behind me and I turned to see Sam running a hand through his brown hair. His blue eyes were filled with excitement and he looked at the field while catching his breath and I couldn't help but laugh at his state.
"How did you get out?" I asked curiously as he handed me my books.
"I grabbed your books and mine and yelled that I had to take a shit and I ran away." He shrugged and I laughed shaking my head.
"Nice." I said hitting his fist. We both stood side by side, watching the practice by the bleachers. No one saw us and we kept creeping on the boys playing football until the bell rang, signaling that it was lunch time.
Sammy and I made our way to the parking lot where we usually sat. It was warm outside and sitting inside made werewolves tense up sometimes. So, on nice days, you'd catch most of the school outside having lunch by their cars or at the tables outside. Sam and I usually went to our tree and sat on the curb or on the grass and ate our lunch together. Most of the time, Johnny and his friends would be a bit away having a smoke.
