Chapter 49: Day Three
Logan
"Day three of being good?" Erica asked me as I sat in her office. I was holding a rubber band ball in my hand and I leaned forward and placed it on her desk. Today's outfit was a soft cashmere, oversized sweater. I was basically wearing all the clothes Dean had purchased, he was over the moon with how good I looked. Jake still looked at me with his head cocked to the side, like he was studying what I was doing.
"Day three. I slipped up on day one a little bit but I have been better." I shrugged.
"You are doing very well, Logan. Principal Kane is very happy." She approved and I began laughing.
"Oh Erica, I will not finish out the school year by being good. Why lie to each other?" I asked as I placed my hand on my cheek, my elbow rested on my knee and I looked at her and she watched me cautiously.
"Principal Kane is threatening to take away your prom privileges if you partake in anymore fighting."
"Erica, it's me. I will find a way in. Did you hear what happened on Monday?" I asked and she shook her head. I grinned widely, Ms. Louis was afraid to get involved. That piece of information stayed slotted in my brain, I would use that for the future too.
"I would be careful, Logan. I heard that you are on the ballots for prom queen." She said as I dusted my hands, those words made me frown. It felt like ice had been thrown onto my skin.
"What." I said while giving her a dumbfounded look and she nodded and pulled up a sheet on her desk. She showed it to me before turning it to face her and then reading off of it.
"I have one here, Taylor Youngblood, Melody Youngblood and Logan Everton." She said sliding over the sheet. I quickly grabbed it and read it over. The bright pink paper was decorated in fancy font for prom. I barely read it, my eyes just landed on the three names ranked on the sheet and sure enough, the last one was my name. Anger ripped through me quickly and my hands clenched the paper before I ripped the sheet into pieces and laid it on her desk.
"No." I said sitting back.
"No?"
"No." I confirmed.
"Who made this? I'll kill them." I then asked her.
"Logan, you can't go through your life threatening to kill someone if you don't get your way." She sighed.
"I can. My old counsellor, Anna? I always told her if she mentioned to anyone that I was actually a Youngblood, I would kill her. I wasn't joking." I warned and I saw the slight hesitation pass through Erica's face. It was subtle and you wouldn't have noticed it through normal conversation, but I was looking for it. I wanted to see her finally admit that she was scared of me and there it was. Just a slight swallow of her throat.
"Most of the school knows you're an ex-Youngblood." She pointed out.
"Because I made people aware after I beat the shit out of Lilith, Taylor, Melody, Keith, and Jeremy. They were the little ring leaders at the time. If I tell them it's different, it's my story to tell. Not anyone else's,"
"I heard you and Johnny are going to prom." She said changing the subject, I decided to play into her game and let her change the subject.
"We are." I nodded.
"Will you be going with Sam and Finn as well?" She asked.
"Of course, Sam and I live together, we're best friends. Johnny is my mate but Sam is my platonic soul mate. He gets me and I get him."
"I'm really glad you found such a good friend in Sam and the others. I have observed in the hallway, you might not think it but accepting Lilith as a friend and sister is a huge step in the right direction." She noted.
"If anyone is going to bully her or beat her up, it's going to be me. She learned her lesson, she finally was knocked down a few pegs and I'm all about the forgiveness." I said as I held out my hands and she watched me.
"Whatever the case, I'm proud of how far you have come Logan. In such a few short weeks as well. Imagine how much you would improve with more time." My eyes narrowed slightly at her words. I was slightly uncomfortable as the "I'm proud of you" rolled over my skin. I had just gotten used to Jake and Dean saying it but she was just throwing it out here with almost no care in the world.
"Don't say that, it makes me feel weird." I said and she looked up, catching on to what I was saying and she studied me for a few moments.
"I'm proud of you Logan." She said again. Okay now she is just doing it to piss me off.
"Keep saying it Erica and I will have to kill you." I said finally standing up to get out of this conversation and walking out of her office.
"How was counselling?" Sammy asked while bumping into my shoulder in the lunch line.
"It was annoying. I'm going to have too kill her, Sammy." I said grabbing a drink. The lunch lady looked at me shocked and I frowned. Why was she listening into our conversation? She should be more concerned with how some of the food looked...not edible.
"Private conversation, lady. These kids are hungry. Feed them." I said taking my tray and leaving.
"I thought you were supposed to be good? You're talking about killing the counsellor and you're yelling at the lunch lady." Sammy noted.
"Probably because Taylor, Melody, and Jamie have been getting on my nerves." I said as we sat down at our table. I sat next to Johnny across from Sammy as he sat next to Finn and Ryan. Blondie and Lilith sat beside Johnny.
"Fucking provoking me." I said eyeing them. The three of them were staring at me and I sent them a bored look.
"Just ignore them, beautiful." Johnny said while picking at his food.
"It's hard, it's like everywhere I turn there is Jamie's face begging to be punched. Then there is Taylor's nose begging to be broken and Melody who I just love scaring." I said in annoyance as I slumped against my hand on the table.
"Hey Logan." Taylor said walking up to the table. I looked up at her and her two minions. My eyes immediately narrowed, they would be up to no good.
"Taylor, I am really not in the mood to deal with you three." I said while taking a bite of my apple.
"Heard you were nominated for prom queen instead of Jamie." She said.
"Logan!? Prom queen!?" Sam hollered and I rolled my eyes as he put his head back and cackled at my predicament. Some friend I had. He was laughing so hard he was rubbing his face with his hand.
"You got nominated for prom queen?" Lilith asked in surprise.
"Unfortunately." I grumbled.
"We were just going to Casey Fields to ask her to change your name to Jamie." Taylor said while gesturing to Jamie next to them. Jamie, looking ever pitiful and sweet, batted her lashes playfully like she was so humble.
"But no one likes Jamie." Sam pointed out once he finished his cackling.
"And probably because Jamie has only been here for two months, doll." I noted while sending her a fake smile and she just chuckled while looking at me.
"And people like Logan? Everyone knows you're a psycho bitch." Taylor snapped.
"I'm trying to be a good girl but it is really hard." I sighed.
"A psycho bitch with a confused best friend." Melody said looking at Sam and I paused while slowly raising my head at the words that left her mouth.
I snapped.
