Chapter 46: Pranks and Prom

Logan

"Okay, that is literally your fifth one." I said to Sam as he reached for another cinnamon bite and he popped it into his mouth and he gave me a look of pure disgust and astonishment. As if how dare I say something like that to him.

"I thought we were friends. Siblings." He stated while clasping his arms as we sat at the table and I raised my eyebrows at him. Sam was always dramatic, it was his personality to take everything to heart.

"Yes, idiot. I'm just saying you ate all of yours and now you're eating all of mine. If you want more then go get some more." I said gesturing to the counter where people were lining up to buy other pastries.

"Are you calling me fat?" He asked me and it was quiet for a few moments as we stared at each other.

"Yes. I am." I said while sliding my cup over to him and he placed a hand to his chest while watching me.

"Well, someone is cranky. Is it because Johnny hasn't asked you to prom yet? Are you hung up on your dangerous, strangely tattooed as a teenager, werewolf boyfriend?" He asked while continuing to eat the cinnamon bites.

"No." I said and Sam paused as he held the cinnamon bite and he just stared at me. Oh, he knew I was lying right through my teeth. I knew Finn had asked him, I knew of others who had asked their significant other. Johnny had not asked me...yet? He hadn't even talked about it. Truth be told, prom was a dream of mine. That romantic 2000's movie? Yeah, they always ended with the guy taking the girl to the big dance, whether it be homecoming, prom, spring fling...whatever. It always ended with that big night and I wanted it.

"Lo, it's a huge dance, a lot of people dream about prom, you get dressed up, go out with your friends, dance a little and live a little. Don't tell me you haven't thought about Johnny asking you to prom. I can see it written all over your face." He told me and I just looked out the window of at the cars in the parking lot.

"Finn asked me and I said yes. I guess at the end of the day, if he doesn't ask you, I can ask you. Though, people might say something because we are technically siblings now." He said going on and on. Sam liked to ramble and he liked to talk. At times I appreciated it because it filled the silence and helped me think but right now, I was a little jealous, a little envious that he was asked and I wasn't.

"Well, Johnny hasn't asked me." I said cutting him off and he paused while watching me and I raised my hands up in exaggeration before putting them down and I took a deep breath.

"It doesn't seem like he wants to go and if he doesn't, oh well. I will still go, even if it means I have to live out my high school romance movie on my own. Loving yourself is the first step to happiness I hear." I said and Sam just studied me.

"Well, you know how they say money can't buy happiness? I think that's a load of bullshit, because if I had a thousand dollars, I could buy more cinnamon bites." He said and I couldn't stop the smile on my face. Another thing about Sam, he could change the topic and the mood with a snap of his fingers.

----

"Sam, you would be a terrible doctor." I told him as we walked through the school doors and he gaped at me like I had just shot him in the foot, or kicked his dog or something.

"You're crazy. I would be a great doctor." He denied while shaking his head and I stopped in my tracks, forcing him to look back at me.

"If I was dying and they brought in Dr. Sam, I would ask them to just let me go." I said and he once again, dropped his jaw at my words.

"You know this is why I'm your only friend. You have the nastiest mean streak sometimes. Did you know that you can be a real bitch sometimes?" He asked while bending down slightly to say it lowly in my ear.
