Chapter 39: The Old Logan

^^ Jamie

Sam

I watched Logan blow through two cigarettes. She hadn't been smoking that much lately, however, she was fuming. As she smoked she was squeezing the skin on her arm and not speaking. A dark look had come over her face as she watched Johnny and Jamie - to be fair, I couldn't blame her here in this situation. I'd be pissed off too if my mate was hugging on some girl who he used to have feelings for and a girl I didn't know. You didn't know Jamie's full intentions.

Once she was finished, I followed Logan into the school and to her locker, she was walking so fast I thought her jeans would catch on fire. She slammed open her locker and began pushing all of her books in while the tick on her jaw moved. I just kept quiet and glanced at Lilith as she came over and looked between the two of us.

"What happened?" Lilith asked.

"The new pack? Johnny has an old friend in it, apparently they go way back. Her and Johnny were hugging a little too long for Logan's liking." I explained and her eyes widened.

"Uh-oh." She whispered and I nodded.

"Someone is going to get beat up today." I assured as we followed Logan to our math class. Since the parking lot, Logan hasn't said a word and her face hadn't changed. The dark look didn't leave her face. In our classes, Logan and I still sat next to each other and already Logan didn't like Mrs. Vallen. I couldn't blame her, the old bat was annoying as hell.

Mrs. Vallen had given us work to do. Logan was quiet for the whole class and Jamie, Zack, and some other new kids transferred in and Jamie was turned around and talking to Johnny. Logan would look over at them and bare her canines briefly. She was really mad. I couldn't blame her, Johnny should be able to see how pissed off she was.

"Ms. Everton, are you actually going to do some work today?" Mrs. Vallen asked. Everyone quieted down and Logan stared at her paper for a few moments before looking up at her and then laughing. I pressed my lips together while waiting to see what would happen.

"No one likes you, you know that right? You're boring and kids use your class to catch up on their sleep." She said simply and a bunch of people looked back at her surprised.

"What the fuck are you doing?" I whispered while widening my eyes at her. Logan didn't even acknowledge me as she glared at the teacher who glared right back at her.

"Well Ms. Everton, I am not here to entertain you. In fact why don't you head down to the principals office?" She suggested.

"Beats sitting here and listening to you talk, I don't know how your husband put up with it all these years. Thanks, doll." She winked while grabbing her stuff. I stared at her utterly shocked and Mrs. Vallen did the same. Logan carried her things while walking towards the front and Logan paused as she kept her hand on the door.

"Taylor keep staring at me and I will shove my foot so far-"

"Ms. Everton! Do not finish that sentence!" Mrs. Vallen yelled.

"Don't interrupt me!" Logan snapped back and my eyes widened and Lilith looked back at me, even Lilith looked scared to pieces.

"Holy shit, dude." I breathed while staring at the altercation between Logan and the teacher. Altercations like this were not uncommon, our werewolf hormones were so hyped up all the time that outbursts like this were expected...but they weren't tolerated. It happened a bit and most packs brought down the discipline when it happened.

"That's old Logan." Lilith whispered while slightly afraid and I nodded.

"Taylor, my foot will go so far up your ass it will come out your mouth, kay?" She said while knocking her book off her desk. She walked out the door and I slowly stood up out of habit.

"Samuel! Sit. Back. Down." Mrs. Vallen ordered - her face was bright red with anger and I froze while everyone looked at me.

"I have to take a shit?" I shrugged not really sure.

"Samuel, you do not. Sit down." She said shaking her head.

"No, I do! I had milk this morning and I'm lactose intolerant...It might be bad." I said and she looked at me and I kind of looked around awkwardly.

"Go, Samuel." She said annoyed. I grabbed my books and ran out the classroom. Down the hallway I could see Logan walking out the front doors. I jogged after her as she went to the trees at the end of the parking lot. She blew out a cloud of smoke and sighed in relief.

"You haven't smoked in a while. That's three times now today." I noted.

"I should have known, he would go for that little preppy thing." She laughed shaking her head and walking back and forth in front of me and I tried thinking of something that would reassure her and calm her down. Shit, Logan was doing so well lately, I didn't want any of this to mess that up for her.

"Logan, they are old friends. It doesn't mean anything!" I assured.

"Sam, you didn't feel what I felt. He was in love with her. He thought she was the most beautiful thing on the planet and she is. She's so pretty. Look at me, my eyes are so dark, I have teal hair..." She sighed while grabbing at the strands on her head and I looked at her confused.

"And you're unique, confident, funny, and gorgeous? Do I need to go on? Logan, Johnny would be stupid to leave you and I know he wouldn't because he loves you. That's why he marked you." I said pointing to her neck. She touched the mark lightly and shook her head.

"My head is going to explode." She groaned while slumping back against the tree. She instantly paled and shut her eyes tightly. Her face scrunched up in pain and I knelt down beside her, immediately noticing the perspiration beginning to form on her head.

"Woah, are you okay?" I asked her while reaching out and touching her forehead gently.

"No, my head is throbbing and I can't see straight." She said. She opened her eyes to look at me and they were glazed over with white as if she were blind or something. I jumped back and stared at her wide eyed as she reached out.

"Sam? W-what's happening? I can't see." She said and I was at a loss for words as I opened and closed my mouth like a fish.

"Um, y-your eyes...what's happening!?" I exclaimed.

"I don't know! I-" She froze mid-sentence and then her body slumped to the ground lifelessly as if she fainted and I immediately bent down beside her.

"Logan? Logan!" I yelled while shaking her. She didn't budge and I rolled her over and her eyes remained shut. I pulled out my phone and called Finn's number. I pressed my phone to my ear and it went straight to voice mail.

"Ugh! Fuck Mrs. Vallen! Answer your phone, stupid!" I growled. I looked around and no one was in the parking lot and we were across from the school entrance. I looked back at Logan who was now not breathing and I took a deep breath. Why did this have to happen to me? Why couldn't she have passed out like this in class where trained and responsible people were!?

"Oh shit, shit, shit, shit..."
