Chapter 41: Asleep
Johnny
Dean and Jake arrived at the hospital later and waited with us in the waiting room. Even Logan's original family came; her father, mother, Landon, Lincoln, and Lilith. She was still being seen by the doctors so we stayed out in the waiting room. It was late and I had laid out on one of the benches to try and get some sleep. Dean had taken Sam home to sleep so Jake waited here and Logan's mother, Lilith and Lincoln went home to get some sleep as well.
They would be back in the morning hopefully and I texted my mom letting her know what had happened.
"I'm looking for people who are here for Logan Everton?" A doctor said and I immediately stood up and the doctor called us in.
We turned into a dark room where Logan was laying still on a bed. A bandage was on her throat and wires were attached to her head. A breathing tube was placed in her mouth and all that was heard was the sounds of the monitors. She just laid there still with nothing happening.
"What happened?" Landon asked the doctor.
"We're not entirely sure. That young boy that was here before explained that she was given abilities when she shifted?" He began.
"She can see past memories sometimes when touching a person." Jake murmured while looking at her.
"Yes, well it may have something to do with that. When she first came in her brain levels were off the charts. Her brain was so hyperactive that we had to sedate her. She calmed down and her heart rate slowed. She is somewhat stable now, her brain activity is still intense but we are monitoring it. We took an MRI and we are looking over it now." He explained.
"So, how does this have to do with her abilities?" Her father asked.
"When she sees a memory it's like being in a dream. It is like her brain overloaded and almost fried it. Which could also be the reason as to why she couldn't see. Her mind wasn't sure if it was going to reveal a past memory or not." He said.
"Why did this happen though? I know she was upset..." Jake said while trailing off.
"That brings me in to the next part of her abilities. We are doing more research but with her specific abilities her body cannot be exposed to high periods of stress. For the rest of her life she needs to be aware of her stress levels. Too much stress could result in her having another episode like this one." He explained.
"When will she wake up?" I asked.
"We aren't sure. It could be days, weeks...she is surrounded by the best doctors." He assured before walking away. I looked down at her sadly. This is all my fault because I saw Jamie again. If I had left Jamie alone, this wouldn't have happened.
Landon and his father soon returned home. They were coming back tomorrow. I think Jake got the idea that I wasn't going anywhere. There was no way that I was going to leave my mate.
"Here, buddy. Get some sleep." Jake said pulling a blanket from the closet in her room. I looked at the couch and laid down on it.
"My gigs sometimes keep me up all hours. Too much adrenaline after a set." He explained before me even having to ask him. I watched as he took Logan's hand and watched her. His face had a look of sadness and I sighed.
"It's my fault." I said.
"Sam told me what happened. It is definitely not your fault. It is an old friend and after Logan seeing that memory she automatically thought the worse. You know how Logan is, she doesn't know how to express her emotions properly." He said while staring at her.
"Yea, she's not the most civilized." I said chuckling slightly. Logan always made me laugh, she was different and definitely had no filter in her brain whatsoever.
"She is quite the girl. Our other two foster kids are gone with their mates to new packs and don't really keep in contact but I can't imagine not having Logan around." He said.
"She can always make me laugh." I agreed.
"Oh yea, she is one of those people that can make you laugh without even trying." He chuckled.
"She'll be alright...right?" I asked nervously.
"To be honest, Johnny. I don't know..." Jake said whispering the last part quietly.
