Liam insisted that I should stay a few more days. I enjoyed spending time with him, and when he dropped me off in my relatively new apartment in London, he promised me we'd do it again sometime.
"I'll just find another idiot boyfriend to break up with and then I can spend another week at your place, yeah?" I said, pushing my key into the lock.
He chuckled behind me, "as long I get to see you," he said.
My apartment was still a tad messy, various boxes strewn in different places with God knows what inside, but I figured I'd be done tidying up by tomorrow, if I started now.
Liam walked in behind me, placing the box of my items from Mark's house on the island. I didn't want to go to get them, and I think he took great pleasure in messing up Mark's face whilst he was there.
"You should have seen his face when he saw me, Ivy, it was hilarious, and he squeals like a girl!" Liam said, shaking his head, smiling.
"I know..." I sighed. I hadn't got over Mark yet, but I kept telling myself that I deserved better, because, I did.
"Are you sure you don't want me to help you finish up here? You probably need someone strong to move that mirror."
"Hey! I am strong, I'll have you know I carried that mirror all the way up here!" I retorted.
"Carried, more like dragged" Liam muttered.
"Excuse me, what did you say?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Oh, nothing" he said, walking off down the hallway to the bathroom.
"That's what I thought" I rolled me eyes.
"Nice place you have here, very, you" he said, quickly changing the subject.
"Yeah, but if you ever come, you are sleeping on the sofa"
He smiled.
"Would you like anything to drink? I'm having a tea" I asked, walking over to the kettle.
"Tea sounds great"
Two cups of tea, a couple of episodes of friends and a packet of ginger biscuits later, Liam glanced down at his watch, and announced that he had to leave.
"Come down whenever, don't be a stranger," I said, not wanting him to leave.
He looked down at me, his features softening. "I won't" he replied. "Only if you promise not to fall in love with another lying bastard"
I chucked at his choice of words, reminding me of the other night.
"Promise?"
"Promise," I said, looking him straight in the eye.
He then brought me into a hug, his arms wrapping around my, compared to him, petite frame.
"Love you, Ivy,"
"Love to too, Li"
He then pulled back from our hug, smiling at me before walking out the open door.
"Don't be a stranger, remember?" I shouted.
"Don't fall for lying bastards, remember?" I heard him reply, and giggled at our brotherly-sisterly banter.
I then closed the door, and proceeded with unpacking the last boxes. I was placing my photo frames around the apartment when my phone started ringing.
"Hello?" I said.
"Fraaaayyyy"
"Hello, Lara" I said, recognising my best friends distinctive voice immediately.
"Guess what!?"
"Am I meant to guess, or are you just going to interrupt me half way through?"
"You know what day it is, don't you?"
I walked over to my pin board, where I had recently pinned up my calendar. I scanned the month, face palming myself as I saw what day it was.
"Oh my God, sorry Lara, I completely forgot, what with the moving and everything! Happy birthday!"
"Don't worry, my parents haven't even remembered, but anyway, to make up for it, you're coming clubbing with Annie and I tonight,"
"What, no, I have to finish unpacking, and-"
"Listen honey, if you and Mark were planning on doing the deed tonight, you're gonna have to put that on hold, because we are going out tonight, end of, period"
"Period, huh?"
"Yep" she replied. I could just imagine her, picking on her perfect filed nails, strutting around her apartment.
"Well I wouldn't count on Mark getting upset, he's already found some whore to play with whilst I keep him waiting" I said, sighing.
There was silence on the other side.
"Fray, I, I didn't know, I'm sorry, I-"
"Don't be, he's not worth it'
"You know what, fuck him, and fuck that whore too, we're going out tonight, and you're going to forget everything and anything you remember about Mark,"
"I don't know, Lara"
"Pleeeaasssee, for me! It's my birthday!"
"Okay, fine,"
"Yes! Okay, I'll pick you up at nine, seeing as you're new here and everything,"
"Okay, see you then" I sighed.
"Ya, toodles," she said, before hanging up.
Nine, that was three hours away. I though I better have something to eat and so ordered some Chinese takeaway to keep me going. I didn't plan on getting drunk tonight, but could imagine me having to drag a drunk Lara home. I walked into my bedroom and looked through my closet, trying to find something club suitable. After what seemed like hours of rummaging, I settled when some plain black disco pants, a white shimmery blouse and some black heels as I wasn't in the mood to wear a dress. I applied a small amount of makeup, creating a slight smokey eye look and tousled my hair out, leaving it natural. By the time I was down Lara had texted me saying she was downstairs, waiting. I grabbed my clutch, locked the door behind me and met her outside.
"How long have you been waiting?" I asked, climbing into the passenger seat in her mini.
"Not long, about 5 minutes" she answered.
"Hey Fray," someone said. I turned round, Annie was sitting in the back, dressed in a low back halter neck navy dress, accentuating her curves. Her black, no, almost black, hair hung loose, flowing past her shoulders. She looked stunning, as always. A smile adorned her face.
"Hey Annie! How you been?"
"Great actually, found a new place, closer to work, should be moving soon," she said.
"Enough chit chat," Lara said, silencing us. "Let's talk business. Lucas has hooked us up with this brand new club in London, said its amazing" Lucas, Lara's perfect boyfriend. Banker, rich, kindest man you will ever meet, after Liam, hench, so hench, and hot, unimaginably hot, just, not for me, not my type. "It's open all night, he's paid for drinks, and..." Whilst Lara blabbered on, I took the time to study what she was wearing. She was clad in a black playsuit, and black platforms, undoubtedly jimmy choo. The necklace from Lucas which she always wore hung from her neck, and her hair was done up, most probably going to be down later though.
"You look amazing, both of you" I said, when Lara had finished.
She smiled, "you don't look too bad yourself, love the shoes" she winked at me.
By the time we'd got to the club It was around 9.30. As soon as we got in Lara dragged us across to the bar, ordering three shots under the tab Lucas Evans. Annie and Lara downed theirs in an instance, whilst I hesitated before titling my head back and letting the liquid tricked down my throat. We talked for a while, over the music, before they arrived. The club went quieter, not quiet quiet though. The music still drowning out voices, but you could tell that nobody was taking. Three figures stood by the door, all male. People stepped aside for them as they walked through the dance floor, to the bar, sitting down.
"Who are they?" I asked Lara and Annie, discreetly watching them.
Lara sighed,"They're bad news, not good, just stay away from them."
"Answer the question, Lara"
"They sell drugs, they don't do them, but they're bad enough being in the system you know, they're known for beating the shit out if people, one time I heard they almost killed someone for paying £1 out of balance, £1." She explained.
"The one on the right, that's Harry. A real ladies man, probably only came here for a good shag." Annie pointed out the man with the brown curls, pinned back from his face with a brown bandana. His green orbs were scanning the crowd, before narrowing at somebody.
To the left of him was a darker skinned boy, raven hair styled upwards, almond eyes studying the drink in his hand, as if he were thinking about something.
"That's Zayn. He's completely different to Harry in the sense that he has a girlfriend whom he cares about and loves, but he's very protective, and is the most short-tempered person on the planet. He's one of throne 'touch my girl again and I break your neck' type of guys" Lara said, and I couldn't help but snigger at her attempt at putting on a deep and intimidating voice.
"And what about him?" I asked, gesturing to the last of the three, a lighter coloured boy, brunette hair tamed by a flatcap, green irises captivated by a girl on the dance floor.
"That's Jack. Said to have a soft side, but no one really knows. But just stay away from them Fray, okay? Especially Harry, he won't hesitate to steal your v card." Annie looked at me, concerned.
"Okay, we didn't have people like this in Wolverhampton"
"Welcome go London baby!" Lara screamed, before raising her drink in the air and walking over to the dance floor effortlessly even though she was half drunk and wearing 50 inch talk heels.
"So, who's like, the leader then?" I aided, playing with the rim of my glass.
Annie sighed, "I thought you were going to ask that. His name Finn. Jacks twin actually. Worse of the four, bad temper, anything will set him off, fucks any girl he sees, but has a weakness for something, his sister or something like that, you know, like a mixture of all three of them. He's not here yet, hopefully he won't come. But the thing is Fray, they're all undeniably the sexiest men alive." She finished, before going off to join Lara. I laughed at her comment, shaking my head.
I danced for a bit, the various shots we'd had getting to my head. So much for not getting drunk, I thought. After a while I walked back over to the bar, noticing that the three boys had left, distributed in various placed around the club. I sat down, asking for a glass of water. Soon someone came and sat on the left of me.
"Hey babby" he slurred, his stinky breath making my choke, "wanna come upstairs, there are private rooms, if you know what I mean" he said, placing his hand on my thigh.
"No thank you," I said, taking his hand off my thigh.
"C'mon honey, you know you want it," he said, taking hold of my wrists and trying to pulling me out of my chair.
"No, please, just get off me" I struggled out of his grip and faced back to the bar.
"Little bitch likes it rough, eh?" He said bringing his hands forward around my body and placing them on my thighs again. My back was pressed against his front.
Suddenly, somebody sat down on the other side of me and said,
"Hey, fuck off,"
I heard the man behind me gulp, before walking away.
"Thank you," I said, pushing my hair back from my face so I could look at him properly. His brown hair was pushed to the side in a small quiff. Cheekbones prominent and jawline stiff as he ordered a drink from the bartender. Biceps bugling beneath his denim shirt. His green eyes were glowing, gold flecks shimmering around the outside as he looked back at me. That's when I realised who he was.
'Jack's twin actually' Annie had told me.
"Hi," he said, sticking his hand out for me to shake, "I'm Finn."
