The streets of London were still unfamiliar to me, and as I sprinted out the door of the warehouse and down the street I realised that there was a high chance I was going to get lost. I glanced down at my watch. 5.30pm.
The street ended, and it came out to another one, this time bigger and cars actually driving down it. I quickly made the choice of turning left, to the side that seemed slightly busier. I got to the end again, and came to a main road. I was confused at how close the warehouse was to the busy streets of London. That was when I heard him call for me.
"Fray!" I refused to turn round to look at him, estimating that he had just rounded the corner of the street I had just come off. That gave me a 10 second head start. I started running again, pushing through the crowds of people, silently apologising.
"Fray, stop!" He shouted again. I got a weird déjà vu, and remembered that this was the second time I had ran from Finn today.
Wind flew all round, causing my hair to come in front of my face which consequently partially blocked my view, but I was still able to make out a bright underground sign came into view. I sprinted towards it, making the sharp turn to get inside. The air conditioning hit me hard, and I rapidly fished out my oyster from my bag, scanning it and walking quickly towards the escalators. I stepped onto one, and proceeded up, skipping every other step, and when I got to the top, I still didn't look back. I took a right, having no idea what tube I was getting on, and thanked God that there was one waiting at the platform. I hopped onto it, looking around the carriage, if was barely full. A man reading the newspaper on one side, a girl on the other with headphones on. I looked up at the doors.
"Close, close, close," I begged. And answering my wish, the doors made a whooshing sound, and slowly closed. It was then that I saw his figure turn the corner, sprinting for the tube. He was panting, face fed, and his hair dishevelled from the wind.
He looked through the window of the door, locking eyes with mine, before walking to the door and pressing the button to open them. When they didn't open, he tried again, and again, and again. He gulped, and brought his hand up to the door.
"Fray," I saw him mouth. "Open the door." It was muffled, but I still heard the command.
I didn't move.
"Fray, open the door," he said, his voice more stern.
He leant his forehead on window, skin squishing against the plastic. "Fray, please," he said, anger turning to desperation.
I couldn't help but feel a load of guilt wash over me as I watched his hand slide down the window, and his figure walk after the tube as it slowly backed away. I still didn't open the door, and as the tube came away from the platform, and slowly drove away from the station, I kept contact with him.
"I'm sorry," I said.
After the next stop, I sat down, studying the map above carefully. I worked out that I would have to get off in about 8 stops to get to my apartment, and was thankful that I had got into the right line. I got my earphones out, and blasted some Bastille to get my mind off Finn.
The journey back to my apartment was filled with anxiety and fear. What if Finn was waiting there? What is he was angry? I asked myself, and I walked back. Passing fusion, I noticed Anya and Dan laughing behind the counter. What was if about him? He was... Odd. There was something not right, a missing jigsaw piece.
I brushed the subject away, increasing my pace.
"I'll see you in the future when we're older
and we are full of stories to be told.
Cross my heart and hope to die,
I'll see you with your laughter lines."
I hummed along to the tune, approaching the door to my block. I pushed it open, going to my mailbox to check for anything. I rummaged through, pulling out, various envelopes, and closing the box. The lift upwards seemed like the longest lift in my life, but when the doors opened, and I saw no one their, I was flooded with relief. I sighed, opening my door and slumping into my hallway. I kicked the door shut with my foot, and chucked the letters on the island, assuming they were just bills. I switched the kettle on, walking round to the tv. I switched through the channels finding a romcom that started at 8. It was 6 now. I poured myself some hot summer fruits, and walked into the bathroom, pushing down the plug and running a bath. I chucked in some bubble bath and a lush bath bomb.
I sipped on my drink as it ran, occasionally swishing my hand inside to check the temperature. I stripped, and slid inside, the hot water instantly soothing my skin. I leaned back, closing my eyes, and let the bath take over me.
After about 15 minutes I decided it was time to get out, and quickly washed myself before stepping out and wrapping a towel around my frame. I walked into the kitchen, grabbing the landline and dialling the familiar domino's number. I ordered my a ham and sweet corn, and then walked into my bedroom, chucking on my pyjamas.
Checking my phone, I noticed I still had no notifications from Finn, even though his number was still not properly saved into my phone. A sudden doorbell shocked me, and I walked over to the door, grabbing my wallet from my bag, and peeking through the peephole.
I recognised the uniform, and answered the door.
"Hi," I said, smiling at the guy.
"Hey, that's £4.25," he said, tapping on his PDA.
"Here you go," I said, managing to fish out the correct amount of change and handing it to him.
"Cheers, if you could just sign here," he said, handing me his stylus. I quickly wrote my signature, before taking my pizza, and thanking him. I shut the door, opening the box and inhaling the smell. I placed it down on the island, next to the letters.
I then noticed an obscure envelope, smaller than the others, less formal. I grabbed it. It didn't even have a name on the front. I tore open the paper, eager to find out what it was. A folded piece of paper lay inside. I unfolded it. On the paper, lay the words,
'We know who you are.'Hey guys! Sorry for the lateness! I knew I wasn't gonna be able to update cause I was quite busy this week so I did I slightly longer chapter on Monday?
For that one, what did you think? And what about Finn's angry side? We had some Finn's POV in their as well, and JELLA. I'm sorry but I love jella so much.
For this chapter, another cliffhanger. Sorry, that's all I have to say. Heehee. See you soon!
