I tore my gaze from Finn's too look at Jimmy. The nasty expression he wore made me hate him even more, if that was possible.

"You're lying," I snarled. "You'll do anything to make me hate him, you'll even accuse him of killing his sister."

He simply sniggered.

"Why are you so obsessed with trying to get me to stay away from him, Jimmy?" I asked.

"I'm just trying to let you know what you're getting yourself intro, Fray. If anything, I'm protecting you."

At that I laughed, stepping away from him and walking towards Finn. He asked me what was wrong as soon as I approached him but I made a beeline for the bar. He soon caught up with me.

"What did he say? Are you alright? Did he hurt you?" Finn asked frantically.

I turned to him. "I'm fine." I started walking again.

It was at the point when I got to the bar, that I realised who exactly was sitting there ordering a drink. I swore under my breath.

My brother wore black suit, just like every other man in the ballroom. His mask was elasticated at the back, and the edge was fraying suggesting he needed to buy a new one. His familiar welcoming stance, had been replaced by an initimidating one.

It was at this point that I realised my brother was about to turn around and recognise me. By the time I had processed, I was eye to eye with him.

"Fray," he said, putting his drink down.

I was speechless. I turned away, ignoring his calls. I pushed through bodies and soon found myself climbing the stair to the rooms on the balcony. I had no idea whether I had lost Liam, but frankly, I didn't care. I opened the first door I found and slammed it shut behind me before locking it.

"Fray? A voice, from behind me. Please not again.

"What, what now!" I turned around.

There stood a friend of my brother's, someone I had not seen in a long time. Someone I never expected to see here. Messy hair and stubble. Unbuttonned shirt and rolled up sleeves.

"Louis?!" I said in astonishment. I walked towards him, wrapping my arms around him in a tight embrace. "How did you recognise me?" I asked.

"I'd recognise you anyday," he said pulling me back and grinning. No, please not that grin.

"No, you can't do that, remember?" I said, letting go of him.

He put his hands up in defence. "Sorry, I forgot, I just haven't seen you for so long."

There was a time in high school when I though I might like Louis. A brief period where I thought I was falling for him. Turns out he felt the same way. But we shook on it, we set rules, and we stayed friends, and I'm pretty sure it's one of the best decisions I've made.

"What are you doing here?" He asked me.

"I could ask you the same." And then it hit me. "Wait, not you too? Not you Louis." I said, desperation lacing my voice.

"Not me what, Fray." He said, coming closer to me and lowering his voice.

I raised my own. "You're in this business too? Just like Liam? God, Louis, Liam I hardly understood why but you? I can't believe it! How could you-"

"Fray, you shouldn't be here, you need to get out of here, now." He said, guiding me to the door. "I promise I'll tell you soon, okay? But you need to go."

I looked at him in confusion as he pushed me towards the locked door. My head hurt over thinking too much. How did Louis, out of all people, get dragged into a world like this? I tore my arm from his grip, reaching foor the door handle.
