I woke up the next morning flustered and hung over, the events of last night flooding back into my mind.
7.30. I looked over at the clock, it was now 10 am. Dragging my body into the kitchen, I fixed myself up a bowl of fruit and yogurt, whilst checking through my phone. I had about 10 messages from Lara, a couple from Annie. I opened up Lara's chat.

Where ARE YOU?
BAABBBEE
FRAAAAYY
Seriously FRAY
FRAYFRAYISCRAYCRAY
FRAY ANNIE TOLD ME YOU LEFT
WITH FINN
Fray are you okay?
Seriously fray you're freaking me out - it's the morning!
FRAY!

I quickly typed a reply.

I'm fine Lara, just a little hungover, a lot happened last night, I need to talk to you about it, wanna meet for lunch?

I walked into the living room, flopping down on the sofa and turning on the tv. I flicked to Comedy Central, staying on the channel when I saw friends was on. Soon my phone buzzed. There was a new text from Lara.

Thank God! You were beginning to scare me! Coffee sounds great, how about fusion, I know you love it!
Lara xoxoxoxxxox

I replied.

Okay, meet you there in 45 minutes.

I finished my bowl, placing it in the sink and walking round to my bedroom. Sifting through my messy wardrobe, I decided on jeans and a sweater. I had a quick shower, blow drying my hair afterwards, and applying natural makeup before checking the time and throwing my clothes on. I grabbed my bag, stuffing my phone, keys and various other essentials inside, before rushing into the hallway. I hastily put my coat, scarf and combats on, finishing with a fair isle beanie to tame my waves. I locked the door behind me, chucking my keys into my bag and rushing down the stairs, after waiting too long for the lift.
As soon as I stepped outside, the chilly breeze of the day hit me, making me shiver and walk faster to the cafe. Soon it was in sight, and I saw Lara's mini Parking up outside, her feminine figure stepping out and walking into the shop, heels clicking on the pavement. I crossed the road, entering the cafe, the familiar bell ringing through my ears, indicating a customer had entered the shop, but today, I was the customer.
It wasn't very busy, and I saw that Lara had already ordered our drinks, and was waiting at the till for them.
"Hey Lara," I said, walking over to her.
"Oh my God, Fray! Where the hell were you last night? You had me worried sick! I though that Finn had... taken you somewhere, and, just, urgh!" Sh exclaimed, throwing her hands in different places as she spoke.
"Relax, Lara, nothing happened, well, something did happen, but, I'll tell you about it in a second, let's just sit down first okay?" I said, calming her down. As if on time, the man produced our drinks, I hadn't seen him around here before, must have been new.
Lara grabbed the cups, her slender fingers wrapping around the entire circumference, and I followed as she found a nice table near the window.
We sat down, both shrugging off our coats. She pushed my drink towards me.
"So, spill" she said, and then, I told her everything, right from when Finn introduced himself down to bit where he had to mysteriously rush off.
"Wow, you had, an, eventful, night," she replied, taking it all in.
"You could say that," I said, sipping my coffee.
"So, he just left, just like that, he didn't make a move, or say anything, that doesn't sound like him,"
"You talk like you know him personally"
"Everyone knows Finn Harries personally,"
"You speak nonsense, you think you know him, he actually seemed quite nice when I talked to him yesterday, apart from the short temper and the tendency to argue with everything I said, he seemed nice," I retorted, draining the last of my coffee.
"You still haven't answered my question, did anything else happen?"
"Well... He.. Kinda asked me out on a date,"
"He WHAT!"
"And I couldn't say no,"
"What do you mean you-"
"And it's tonight,"
"Fray, what kind of shit have you gotten yourself into, Finn has never, and I mean never, felt like this with a girl before. God, this is so confusing," she said, putting her head in her hands.
"I don't get what's so bad about him, he's just a normal guy-"
"But he's not fray!" She lowered her voice, "he's in the fucking drug industry, whatever that is, you don't wanna get involved!" She glanced down at her watch, sighing. "Listen, I've got to go to work, but, just, good luck tonight, and, be careful," she said, hugging me before leaving.
I could see her mini drive away though the reflection in the window. I sat there for a moment, thinking about all that had happened, and thinking about if I actually went on this date with Finn, what happened after that? What happened if he took me on more dates, what if I fell in love with him? No, I told myself, he's not your type.
And so after putting my coat back on, I walked back to my apartment. When I got back, it was around 12, I had around 6 and a half hours to spare before I should have started to get ready. I used this time to finish unpacking, and giving my apartment a little vacuum, and then watching about 4 episodes of friends, even though I'd already seen them whilst snacking on a ham and cheese toastie for lunch. By the time it was 6:30 I decided I should get ready. I chose a dark blue long sleeved dress, with lace arms and that flowed out to just beneath my knees, along with some simple back gladiator heels.
I decided I was already fresh from this morning, and went on to curl my hair lightly. I wore a shimmery eyeshadow, adding a bit more colour, and my ruby lipstick, which I adored to bits. I placed the dress on, zipping it up at the back, before taking one look in the mirror. I looked nice, after all he had said to wear something nice. I sprayed some of my favourite perfume on, before grabbing my clutch from last night, and putting my lipstick, eye liner, and tissues in their, incase I needed anything later. I then went to unplug my phone from the charger, and just on cue, the doorbell went. I walked over to the hallway, heels clicking on the wooden floor, and opened the door, nervously.
There, standing outside my apartment, was not Finn.

Sorry for the delay! I had a busy weekend! Ooooooohhh, who's at the door??? Is it someone Fray knows??? Comment who you think it is!!!

Stay beautiful,

Tara xox.
