I was in my apartment. Friends was on the TV and every now and then I laughed at the joke I had heard a gazillion times before. I picked my bowl up off my lap, scraping off the last bits before putting it in the sink.
My head snapped to the door when I heard a loud bang.
"Hello?" I said.
No answer.
"Who's there?" I asked.
The person replied by hitting the door again. I ran to my room, picking up my phone and pressing Finn's number. I didn't know why I wasn't calling the police, I guess it was just a natural instinct.
He picked up.
"Fray?"
"Finn! Finn! Someone's trying to get into my apartment!" Another bang.
"What? Shit, it's okay, Fray, just calm down? Can you get out, I'm coming, just try to get out," he sounded liked he was rushing.
"I can't," Bang. "They're, a-at the door," I said.
"Think Fray, think," He said. I heard the ignition of a car on the other side of the line. Bang.
"The fire exit! I get down through the fire exit!" I stood up, sprinting round through my bedroom into the living room. The fire exit lay on the balcony, almost enticing me towards it. BANG.
I swung round, and the door was thrown open, slamming against the wall creating a dent in the plaster.
There stood a man, dressed in a plaid shirt and jeans, and evil grin upon his face. I couldn't quite recognise him, brown eyes, blonde hair, but at the same time he looked familiar. I brought the phone down from my ear, and it slipped through my fingers, hitting on the floor.
"Fray!" Finn shouted.
The man smirked, before running towards me. I backed away, making for the lock on the balcony door, but he caught me before I could open it. He wrapped his hands round me from behind. I screamed and struggled in his grip, but that only seemed to tighten it.
"FRAY!" Finn repeated, even though he had no answer from me.
The man threw me against the window, my head hitting the glass. I sank to the floor, hearing a definite crack, not figuring out whether it was the glass, or my skull. He sniggered, looking down at my limp body now radiating with pain from the impact, before picking up my phone and placing it to his ear.
Finn was still shouting on the other side.
"Hey Finn," he was American. "How's it going?"
I heard silence on the other side.
The man smirked, before bringing the phone down and putting it on speaker.
"Eric, I swear, if you touch her," Finn said.
"You swear what? Because she's kind of already hurt."
"What have you done to her?" I could imagine him. Jaw hard, eyes dark, fists clenched.
"Finn," I whispered, hoarsely.
Eric laughed. "Why don't you ask her?"
"Fray, Fray are you there?" He asked, frantically.
"I'm fine, I'm okay," I asked, starting to get up, ready to make a bee line for the door.
I didn't get very far before Eric kicked me in the gut, sending me back down to the ground.
"What do you want?" Finn said.
"Don't do shit for him Finn," I said, louder.
"I want for you to get here, and find her dead body waiting for you," he said, before chucking my phone across the room, ignoring Finn's protests. It smashed against the wall.
Eric then looked down at me, taking something out of the back of his jeans, that was tucked under his shirt before.
It was a gun.
I started to scream for help, something I really should have done earlier, but he just sniggered, loading the pistol.
I tried to back away, which resulted in him slamming his foot onto my ankle, earning a strangled scream from me.
He pointed the gun at my forehead.
"Anything you want me to tell Finn," he said.
I paused. "Toastie."I woke up to familiar hands shaking me awake. My eyes slowly opened, meeting with Finn's green ones. I was painting, gasping for air.
"Fray? Fray! Are you okay?" He asked.
I sat up, and stayed silent until my breathing steadied.
"It was just a dream, it was just a dream Fray," I told myself.
Finn's hands rubbed my back, in a circular motion. "Fray?" He said, quietly.
I glanced at the clock, 3.44am.
I looked over at him. He looked shattered, hair hung low on his forehead, eyes heavy.
"What happened?" I asked, turning round to face him.
"You started screaming, woke me up, I ran in here and you were tossing and turning, I had to wake you up," he explained. "I take it you had a nightmare," he said.
"Yeah," I said, looking down. His pushed a lock of my now loose hair behind my ear, exposing my tired face to him.
"What was it about?" He asked.
I looked up at me and gulped.
"I was at my apartment, and suddenly, this man broke in, and, and I called you, but it all happened too quickly, and.." I started to talk, but shook my head, eyes glossing over.
"Hey, hey," he said, pulling my into his lap, strong arms instinctively wrapping arm my fragile body. His chin rested on my head. "Don't cry, beautiful," he said.
"He took my phone, and he said that, that he wanted you, to f-find my d-d-dead body waiting for you," I said, sobbing silently.
"Do you remember anything else?" He asked.
"Um, his name w-was Eric, I think," I said.
Finn stiffened, his hands stopped soothing me and his breathing halted.
I looked at him. "Who's Eric?"
He snapped out of his trance, brilliant emerald eyes connecting with my dull brown ones.
"No one you need to know about," he said.
I sighed.
Finn soon let go of me, slipping off the bed and looking at me. "Are you okay? Do you need anything?" He asked.
I shook my head. He smiled at me, before turning around and starting to walk out.
"Wait," I said, weakly. He spun round. "Stay with me, please," I asked.
He smiled, before walking over to the bed and slipping under the sheets, grabbing hold of my body, slipping his left arm under my torso.
He brought his other hand to my face, lightly stroking my head every now and then. For a while we stayed like that, staring into each other's eyes.
"So beautiful," he whispered, but I made no reply to it, I was too lost in his eyes.
It was now that I noticed the way his irises darkened on the outside, creating a solid outline, or the way his eyelids dropped over the top his iris when he was tired, blocking out part of it. But most of of, I noticed his gold flecks, and how they would only show in natural daylight, and hide away at night, behind the soft glow of his irises. Like baby sunflowers.
"What you looking at?" He said.
I looked down, blushing.
Finn laughed before bringing his right arm down and encasing my small frame inside of them.
"I'll never let anyone hurt you, Fray, remember?" He said.
I hummed in response, closing my eyes and burying myself in his embrace.
I soon fell asleep, but was able to make out his soft lips planting a kiss on my forehead before I drifted off into an unexpected dream about him. Again.Hey guy!
I'm really sorry for the wait, I've been really shit at uploading recently, I don't have an excuse so I'm not going to bore you with one.
