Finn shot Jack a dark look.
"What? What party?" I asked, putting my menu down.
"Oh, you haven't told her?" A smile playing on Jack's lips.
"You've really done it this time Jack," Ella said.
"I'm sorry, I just thought-"
"Just shut the fuck up Jack," Finn shook his head.
"Will someone please tell me what's going on?!" I leaned forward.
"What happened to no swearing?" Jack and Finn ignored me, continuing their conversation.
"You and your big mouth happened, that's what," Finn looked back down at his menu.
"Someone better say something right now, or I'm outta here!" I said, maybe a bit too loudly.
They stopped talking. "You're gonna have to tell her now, might as well be sonner than later," Ella said. "No thanks to Jack," she added.
Finn grinned, before folding his menu up and putting it down next to mine.
"Jimmy, and some of our other suppliers, often throw, parties. They're not like normal parties, I mean, by the end of the night they usually get a bit rowdy and turn into miniature clubs, but they're a bit more formal," Finn explained.
"What, like a ball?" I said.
Finn smirked, and looked up at me. "Kind of, not that formal, somewhere in between," he said.
"And what, Jimmy's having one?" I said, thinking back to the encounter I had had with him.
"Yes."
"When?"
"Friday."
"And when were you planning on telling me this?" I questioned.
"Thanks Jack, now you've got me in trouble," Finn commented.
"Are you going?" I turned my head to Jack and Ella.
"'Course, wouldn't miss it for the world," Ella answered.
"What? You're not coming," Jack tightened his arm on Ella's shoulder.
"Yes I am, you're not leaving me alone on my last night in London, so I'm coming," Ella finished.
Jack furrowed his eyebrows. "I thought you were going home on Sunday?"
"I was meant to, but the flight changed last minute," She said, lowering her voice.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Jack said, pushing her head to face him. They were getting quite intimate, in their own little world, so I turned to Finn.
"Well if she's going, I'm going," I said.
"I don't think it's safe for you to come," concern flashing through his eyes.
"Why?" Jack butted in.
Just then a waiter came, placing four glasses of white wine down on the table. It was exquisite.
"Do they not do the weird taster thing here?" I asked.
"What? When they swivell it around in your face and your boyfriend tries to act all proffesional by sniffing it and taking a sip? Already did that when you weren't here." Ella said.
I giggled. "Back to the point," Jack said, stifling back a laugh.
My mind travelled back to the note. "Fray received a note in the post yesterday." Finn said.
"What did it say?" Ella asked.
Finn reached into his back pocket, and pulled a crumpled piece of paper out. "You brought it with you?" I said.
"Well, I figured that this would come up." He squeezed my hand.
Jack and Ella looked at the note. "Are you sure it's just not some prank or something?" Jack said.
"I know that writing Jack," Finn said through gritted teeth.
Jack's eyes widened subtly, as if something clicked in his mind.
"What? Who's writing is that?" I asked.
"Remember when I told you there were some things you didn't need to know?"
"Remember when I told you-"
"You don't want to know," he linterrupted me.
"Well we're all going, on Friday I mean," Ella said.
I smiled, looking at Jack. "I think she should come-" he started.
"She's not going," Finn growled, crumpling the paper in his fist.
"It's three v one Finn," I sassed. "I'm going whether you like it or not."
Finn looked at me, straight in the eye, gold flecks blending with the reflections of the lights in the resturant, until finally sighing, and giving in. "Fine, but you'll have to get a dress."
"What makes you think I don't already have a dress?" I asked.
"You need a new dress, you can't go to one of Jimmy's parties wearing an old dress Fray!" Ella exclaimed, as if she was distraught over the fact I was simply going to raid my wardrobe for one of my dresses.
"You make it sound like it's a disgrace or something," I said.
"In Ella's eyes, wearing something twice is disgraceful," Jack commented.
"No it's not!" She argued.
"You bought everything you're wearing now, today," he said, motioning towards Ella's patterned blouse, black slacks and platforms.
"So?" She said. "I hardly ever go shopping anyway."
Jack snorted, Ella rolled her eyes.
"Anyway, you're gonna need a mask," Finn said.
I choked on my drink. "I'm sorry, what?"
"It's a masquerade party silly," Ella said.
"So it is a ball then, c'mon, what's next, masks off at midnight?" I laughed. They all looked at me. "Seriously?"
"They're actually quite fun," Jack said.
"We can go shopping on Friday," Ella said, pulling out her phone.
"I can't, I've got work," I said. "And considering I missed about 2 hours this morning because someone didn't wake me up, I can't miss anymore this week."
"You stayed at Finn's yesterday?" Jack said, before turning his head to FInn. "Did you get some?"
"Just shut the fuck up Jack," Finn repeated.
"Don't worry mate, I know how it feels: Ella made me wait," he said.
"No I did not! Not that long anyway," Ella retorted.
"It's nothing to be ashamed of," Jack cooed.
I looked down at the menu, my eyes scanning the page for the word 'chicken'. Thai Chicken Noodle Soup, the sweet combination of soothing lemongrass and coconut milk - these two flavours marry beautifully with chicken. Sounds yum.
"Ready to order?" Finn said, smiling at me.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I'm trying to be mad at you, don't smile at me," I said, monotonously. He pushed me even more by smiling harder. I rolled my eyes. "I'll have the Thai Chicken Noodle Soup, please."
"Good choice, 'the sweet combination of soothi'-" Jack started.
"Stop repeating what it says in the book you idiot, I'll have the Honey Garlic Grilled Chicken please," Ella said.
"Pork and Peanut Curry," Jack said, putting his menu down and looking at Ella.
"Okay," Finn ushered the waiter over and repeated our meals, ordered a thai green chicken curry for himself.
"Classic," I said.
"What can I say?" He taunted.
I looked over at Jack and Ella. She was showing him something on her phone. "So how long have you two been together?" I said, I think Finn told me it had been a year or so.
"14 months, 3 weeks and 2 days," Jack said, leaning into to Ella.
"God, you're so cheesy," Ella pushed him away. "Want to go to the ladies, Fray?" She offered.
"Sure," I said, standing up and grabbing my clutch.
"Don't be gone long," Finn said.
"No promises," I managed, before Ella grabbed my hand and dragged me away.
"The party on Friday doesn't start till 9, so if we go shopping for like an hour and a half, plus trips to the mall, there and back, we'll get back for about 7 ish, give each another hour and half before the boys pick us each up. I suppose we could fit everything in," She said, as we reached the bathrooms.
"Yeah, I guess, do you think you could pick me from work?" I asked.
"Yeah, of course, I'll drop you to yours as well, don't worry," she assured me.
"Brilliant," I said, before quickly going to the toilet. When I got out Ella was washing her hands.
I walked towards the sink, turning the tap on.
"Finn likes you, I see it, the way he looks at you," she said, looking at me through the mirror.
I blushed, and took my lipstick out from my clutch. "Well, maybe I like him back," I said. I reapplied my lipstick, making a clean swipe across my bottom lip.
"Nice colour," Ella said.
"Thanks, it was a gift, from my brother," I pulled out my phone.
"Well, your brother has good taste."
"For some reason I don't think it was him," I unlocked my phone, noticing three new messages.
To: Fray
From: Annie
Fray, I feel so bad for saying those things yesterday, it's been bothering me since. Maybe we can meet for dinner tomorrow? I need to apologise in person.
Annie xoxoxo
I smiled, confused, usually Annie was one to hold grudges. I quickly typed a reply.
To: Annie
From: Fray
I think I overreacted a bit yesterday, dinner sounds great! Wagamamas tomorrow, 7? Let me know,
Fray xoxx
I moved onto the second text.
To: Fray
From: Liam
I've heard you've got a man friend, Fray, why didn't you tell me? I had to find our from Lara! I need to meet him, if he's another lying bastard I'm going to kill him.
Why Lara. Lara and Liam has always been good friends when I introduced them, but still, I knew she had done it on purpose. I chose to ignore replying, and the third and final text, but also because Ella snatched my phone out my hand.
"Excuse me?" I said, raising my eyebrows at her, I had a feeling Ella and I were going to be good friends, but then again, I had a inkling she already though we were BFFLs.
"Who's Liam?" She questioned.
"My brother," I said.
She smiled, before quickly typing something on the screen.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Just entering my number of your expensive smartphone," she said, before handing it back to me, a new contact named Ella on the screen.
"For you information," I said. "I saved up for this."
"I've never been any good at saving, c'mon," she said, before walking out the door, me following close behind.
When we go back to the table, Jack and Finn had leaned in closer. Jack was rubbing his temple with one hand, whilst the other was clenched. Finn was
talking, obviously trying to calm him down.
"You okay?" Ella asked, as she slid back into the cubicle, and I sat down in my chair.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine," Jack said, fake-smiling and wrapping his arm around her, but it fooled her. I looked over at Finn, who gave me a later look.
The rest of the evening went by quite swiftly, consisting of Jack trying persuade me go to the party on Friday in VS lingerie, and Ella swatting him for being so inappropriate. The food was delicious, and the more I ate, the more I fell in love with this restaurant.
"We should come here more often," I said, as we were walking out, having already said goodbye to Jack and Ella, who had headed in the opposite direction to us.
"We should," Finn agreed.
"So, what was Jack so angry about then, when we went to the ladies?" I asked, as Finn pulled away from the pavement.
"Numerous things, he was thinking about when we found Ella in the warehouse, and the other day, when im went to find jack, Ella was there and she couldn't find her keys. Jack thinks someone took them when they were out, but he doesn't know why, and," he stopped himself. "He's basically just worried for Ella, in a way, I think he's grateful she's going back early." He said.
I nodded, leaning my head on the window, my eyes heavy.
"You can sleep if you want, there's traffic," he said. It wasn't long before I drifted off into nothingness.
"Hey, Fray? You awake?"
A warm pair of arms wrapped around me, one placed under my knees, the other around my back. I leaned into the touch, my fingers grazing the skin above the open buttons.
I heard a car door slam, and footsteps, my body bouncing with them. He turned around, using his back to push a door open, and swung me round as he walked through.
I next felt a wave of nausea, as I felt my tummy turn, and realised I was in a lift. He used this time to precariously open my clutch and grab my keys whilst carrying me.
A door opened and closed. I was gently placed onto a bed, a familiar bed, my bed. My shoes and blazer were slipped off, before a delicate kiss was left on forehead.
"Sweet dream, beautiful," said the voice from before. It was Finn.
That's when I realised, this wasn't a dream.Hey guys!! Sorry for the wait, if it makes you feel any better I got nail varnish in my eye the other day, it hurt like fuck.
What do you think? Jimmy's party? What's going on?
So I've become slightly addicted to teen wolf and I've like fallen in love with STYDIA. I've watched season 1 in 1 week which is like a record for me, don't judge. So my question is:
What's your favourite TV show? Mine would have to be Modern Family, Friends, obvi, or Teen Wolf. I recommend all of them they're amazing.
In other news, OMG NEARLY 2.5K! That's insane thank you so much!
