Chapter Three: Tall, Fit, & Uncharacteristic
-Cordelia-"Well good morning Supreme." Sherrie smiled as she walked over to my locker.
I pulled out the books I was going to be needing today as well as my English essay, it was Friday and I needed to have it turned in by lunch time today.
"I don't know if I'm much of a Supreme." I admitted. "I've been doing our little nightly routine with little to no success."
"Nothing?" She asked.
I sighed, "well honestly it is a little strange, but I have to admit that while I haven't had anyone turn up in my dreams, I have actually been having a reoccurring dream."
"Really?" She asked a little excited now.
I closed my locker and led the way to find Maxine.
"It's nothing really, just me in a park...but that's all I can ever remember."
"Oh." She sounded a little let down.
"How about you?"
"Nothing, not even a reoccurring park dream."
I could see she was genuinely let down by this, and instead of telling her 'I told you so.' I wanted to cheer her up, "lets find Maxine, maybe she's had better luck since she actually envisioned someone."
Maxine wasn't at her locker and when we didn't find her in the cafeteria we ended up going separate ways as the bell rung signaling the beginning of the first class of the day.
Maxine walked into our class right before the tardy bell and when I caught her eye she gave me a huge smile.
I could tell she was practically bursting at the seam to tell me something but it would have to wait until after class as the lesson began.
Class went by quickly enough and as soon as I got into the hallway Maxine grabbed my hand and pulled me into the girls room. She pulled out her cellphone.
"What are you doing?" I asked paranoid. I knew if a teacher walked in she'd get busted and not only would she get detention for using her phone during school hours but it'd more than likely get taken away.
"Texting Sheri to meet us immediately."
In less than three minute Sherrie burst into the restroom, clutching her chest. "This better be damn important, I actually ran...like I haven't done that nonsense since we were kids."
Maxine couldn't wait any longer. "It worked!"
Just then a freshman girl walked in.
"Get Out!" We all yelled and the girl ran out of the restroom.
"You've got to be shitting me." I sounded skeptically.
She shook her head no, "I wouldn't lie about something like this...okay so we've been doing this for two night now but this morning when I was pulling up to the school I saw Ollie getting out of his truck and he waved at me, I smiled but went on to find a parking spot...when I got out of the car Ollie came jogging over, he smiled at me and asked if I had seen him wave at me."
I had to admit that it did seem a little extra for Ollie to go all out of his way just to see if Maxine had seen him wave or not.
"And?" Sherrie asked, completely intrigued.
"I told him I did and that it was good to see him and that I'd see him around sometime, but he started walking with me trying to strike up a conversation, asking me about my plans for the weekend and if I had started looking at schools for college, what he was doing after college and before I knew it the bell was fixing to ring and he had walked me to class, I pointed out that he was going to be late to class now but he said it'd be worth it."
