Chapter Eight: Careful What You Wish For
-Cordelia-Sherrie basically ditched Maxine and I all day at school.
When Ollie approached us after school even he made mention of Sherrie's noticeable absence. "Is it safe to say it's weird to see those two even talking, not to mention the fact that Sherrie isn't over here with you two?" He asked.
We nodded and Maxine spoke up, "we feel the same way."
I had to agree with both of them but kept my mouth shut, if this is truly what Sherrie wanted then I'm truly glad she's happy. Truth be told I had my own dream guy to worry about.
To be honest as much as I tried to look into dreams and the depths of them, every time I read about various things that have to do with dreams I kind of zone out.
It was time to seek out help in the form of someone my mother would call a fraud...there's only one tarot lady in town and I knew if I was caught entering her house I'd be dead meat when my parents found out...but I needed answers.
"Hey I'll call you later Maxine, I gotta head over to the store for some answers about last night."
She seemed to understand my vague explanation as she nodded and waved goodbye as I got onto the bicycle and left. It took me about a good seven minutes to pedal into town but once I got there it didn't take me long to find the exact place I needed to go.
Her house looked normal enough, but right on the front gate was her huge white sign with purple letters:
Madame Alicia
-Tarot Cards-
-Palm Reading-
-Crystal ball-
-Ouija Board-A slight shiver ran up my spine but I got off of my bike and walked up to the house, making sure to hide my bike in the bushes before entering.
"If you've come for revenge spells this is not the place for you." A raspy voice sounded from across the room.
I looked in her direction and spotted her as she was putting some books away.
"No ma'am, I've come because I have some questions." I admitted.
She turned to face me before her brows pulled together, "you dabbled in something you shouldn't have dear, but don't worry...you'll be fine."
My heart was racing now. "How did you know."
"Oh Hun relax, the only people who come in here are people who want revenge, want answers, or those who have attempted 'magic' by themselves and are scared they're cursed or something because of it...you're paler than my sheets so it was a lucky guess."
I let out a shaky breath and nodded before I confessed.
"My friends and I tried something one of us read in a book...while it hasn't been bad for me so far, I guess the pessimistic side of me keeps waiting for something bad to happen."
She nodded and motioned for me to take a seat.
"Describe the spell."
I told her what Sherrie had read and what we had all done and it's results.
"While One of my friends ended up with her guy mine only resulted in reoccurring lucid dreams."
