Chapter Six: Confessions-part 1
-Cordelia-It was my first time seeing the girls since meeting Riley...well, dreaming of Riley.
And call me crazy, but a huge part of me didn't want to tell them, like I wanted him all to myself. A bigger part of me was afraid to admit my nightly occurrence because I was also afraid someone would suggest I seek out psych treatments after they hear that I'm basically falling for a dude who I only see in my dreams.
But I know he's real, I don't know how to explain it...I can just feel it.
My mom dropped me off in the front of the school, as usual my friends were waiting for me on the top of the school steps.
"Morning girl." Sherrie sounded, "you have perfect timing, Maxine was just about to tell all about her weekend with Ollie-boy."
"Weekend?" I asked smiling.
Maxine blushed lightly and nodded, "we had so much fun skating on Friday that we basically hung-out all day Saturday and Sunday."
Sherrie and I offered her a collective "aww."
She shrugged, "I don't know if it's the dream thing though guys, after we left the roller rink Ollie confessed that he's always kinda liked me."
"But the dream thing prompted him to approach you." Sherrie pointed out.
Maxine shook her head, "actually he says his older brother pushed him to 'man up' since it's senior year and all...he didn't want to possibly miss his chance."
"Whatever the reason," I said as I didn't want an argument between the two to start. "We're all happy Ollie spoke to you and you two hit it off...congrats Maxine."
She smiled, "everything is just so easy and natural with him...do you know what I mean?"
I was about to agree, I felt the same way when I dream of Riley.
"Of course you don't, no offense or anything, you've just never really had a boyfriend..." she trailed off.
Then her words brought me back to reality.
As much as Riley and I connect, all the conversations we have, hugs, hand holding...at the end of it all, it's still just a dream.
"Well how's the Dream thing working for you Cords?" Sherrie asked me.
"Oh...it's been a little tough remembering to do that every night before sleep, some nights I even fell asleep while trying to imagine tiny doors." I lied, I hated lying to them.
Sherrie sighed, "well I've decided to start over and this time I'm going to imagine Bryan Jackson." She said as she looked over at the basketball guys.
We followed her gaze and spotted him, Bryan is a grade under us, but he's the best basketball player at school and everyone knows he'll go pro one day.
"Good luck with that." I remark with a slight smirk. Sherrie always has to make things hard on herself.
"What's that suppose to me?" She asked defensively.
"Only that Bryan doesn't date, he's said on multiple occasions that girlfriends are distractions." Maxine filled her in. "So again, good luck."
"I don't need luck...I've got magic on my side."
I shook my head and we both watched her disappear toward the lockers. "Do you really think this is magic?"
Maxine looked over at me and shrugged, "can't say for sure."
