Chapter Nine: Attachment
-Riley-

The next morning I talked with Clark, he wanted to know why dad had come to practice.

"Basically he wants me to stay with him."

"Is that a bad thing?" He asked.

"Well what about Mom and Patty?"

"I'm sure your mom would understand, I mean your dad's got a point man...this is your future that you're messing with."

I shook my head, I just couldn't imagine not being near my mom and sister. "Can we talk about something else?"

He shrugged, "okay...how you been sleeping, still taking those pills?"

At this I shook my head. "I haven't used them for a while now." I admitted.

"Still having that dream with the chick?"

His tone was a little humored so I shook my head, "nah, must've been a side effect of the pills." I lied. I hated that I couldn't even talk to my best friend about Cordelia.

I smiled as I remembered her mention of finding out I'm real.

"You okay man?"

"Yeah what's up?" I asked.

He looked at me strange, "you sorta zoned out there for a second."

"I'm good, hey I'm taking off...I'm not really feeling school today."

He nodded and watched me leave.

After the whole Bryan blow up this morning things got weirder fast.

Suddenly all anyone could talk about was Sherrie and Bryan and how cute a couple they made.

There wasn't one time they were ever apart either, they were spotted walking around the halls between classes hand in hand, and later at lunch with his arm casually wrapped around her waist.

From the outside looking in someone might think they're just a couple in love...too bad they literally started talking yesterday.

"Do you think I'm just being jealous?" I asked Maxine as we sat at the lunch table and watched Bryan and Sherrie literally feed each other.

She made a face of disgust..."girl no one with half a brain would be jealous of that."

I laughed a little, "I guess you're right...I haven't even asked, is Ollie okay after this morning?"

"He's super confused about the whole thing but other than that he basically doesn't want to be around Sherrie so we're gonna cut our hangout time at school down to specifically after school."

"That's not fair." I sounded a little hurt for them. It sucks that their short time together was being made even shorter by not being able to see each other during school.

Together we sat there and talked a little while longer while every now and again looking up to find Bryan and Sherrie deep in conversation.

The bell rung signaling the end of lunch and the end of the school day for me. "Well call me later if there's any new developments in the oddity that is Bryan and Sherrie."

Just as we had finished dumping our trays a loud crash sounded and everyone looked to find the source.

"Fucking apologize properly!" Bryan shouted, his eyes glazed with anger.
