(UNEDITED)Chapter Nineteen: Find Me
RileyI stood there with Cordelia in my arms.
I could immediately tell that something was wrong but I didn't bother her...I just wanted her to feel safe.
When I felt her crying my heart broke.
I rubbed her back trying to comfort her and let her get it all out, when she finally stopped I sighed and looked down at her (I wish I could see her without the damn mask) "Tell me what's wrong sweetheart."
She gave me a weak smile and it mad me feel worse, I knew she was trying to be strong or brave about something.
"It's nothing...really...just drama, but it's over now." She tried to assure me.
But I wasn't buying it. I also knew better than to push someone to talk, when they're ready they'll open up...Cordelia's no exception.
"I feel like i'm always the person who's talking the most when we're in here." She smiled...this time it was her usual mischevious little smirk. Like she she was up to something but trying to remain cute and coy.
"Well we finally got to...my grandparent's place." I said after recieveing a stern look from her.
She had this strict rule of not giving out super personal information about eachother, otherwise finding her wouldn't even be an issue...I could've had her number and we could've set up a meeting...but it's not that easy.
"I'm glad you're finally not driving anymore."
"Same...I'm super sore from lack of sleep and constant driving, but I'm catching up on sleep and getting to see you while doing that is always a great bonus."
"Can you believe schools already almost over?" She asked.
I nodded, "I can't wait...my dad's kinda pissed since I didn't exactly apply for any colleges...to be fair he had all his eggs in the football basket, but with the move I didn't finish out the season and joining a new school means I won't be placed on the team anytime soon."
"What does that mean for your future in football?"
I shrugged, "If i play in college it'll be as an elective but I won't be getting any scholarships anytime soon without any college scouts coming out to watch me play."
"Are you okay with that?" She asked carefully.
I shrugged, "Football isn' t my whole life...I mean, yeah I like it, and I think I'm good at it...but theres so much more I could be doing, and now that football's outta the equation a lot of options are opened to me now."
"Well if it's any consolation I haven't heard back from any of the schools I applied to." She admitted, and I could hear the sadness, or perhaps it was worry that filled her words?
"Got any back up plans?"
She shook her head..."If worse comes to worse and I get rejected I guess I'll have to go to community college, atleast get my basics done and then try and transfer into a University later on down the road."
"Sounds like a solid back-up to me...that may have to be my entire gameplan to be honest...maybe I'll look around near my grandparents house and see what colleges are nearby."
We talked a little more about school and moved on to the upcoming holidays and how excited she was for Halloween.
"Gotta a costume already?"
Her lovely smile grew much more radiant. "It's kind of tradition that my friends and I go as witches."
I chuckled. "Of course you do."
She rolled her eyes, "let me guess...you're one of those guys who's too cool to dress up?"
At this I shook my head, "You would be wrong...I dress up for my little sister and sadly I think I might have to go as a minion or something."
"Well," she said very seductively. "I think you'd make a very hot minion."
"Oh yeah?" I played along, stepping in closer. I took advantage of the moment and leaned down to kiss her.
Her lips were soft and I had obviously caught her by surprise.
The kiss while short was spectacular. Like maybe it's because we are here in the dream and everything is possibly amplified in here...But it felt so real, more than real.
It was the realest kiss I had ever experienced and I couldn't tell you just what made it so incredible.
"Wow." She sounded.
I smiled in awe myelf, "Yeah...wow."
She looked at me and I looked at her and for the moment there was nothing else.
But all too soon the sun was beginning to rise behind her, making her hair glow from the new sunshine.
I sighed and cupped her face, I didn't hesitate to kiss her once more, but it was not nearly what I wanted it to be, of course this kiss was just as fascinating and our sweet peck left a great lingering effect...but greedily I wanted more.
"W-we should get going." She sounded, a beautiful smile on her flushed face.
Unfortunately I had to agree, and as I watched her turning to leave me for the day I had to stop her. I reached out and took her hand. She stopped and looked at me.
I nodded, "Can I just say something.?"
She looked up at me and nodded.
"I know this is crazy and it may seem sudden but...I'm falling for you Cordelia, and I will do everything I can to find you."
"What if we're several states away from eachother?"
"I can tell you're from the north, and without getting into the specifics, i just moved up north...theres a park here and i'm sure it's this park, I'll go there every evening and look for you...I won't ever stop looking for you Cordelia."
Maybe I sounded psycho but it was the truth, something told me that I had to go to this park in real life and she'd be there.
