Chapter Sixteen: Bizzaro Bryan
-Cordelia-I finally woke up to the sound of Max's little brothers running around and then her yelling at them to calm down.
"Cords...morning chica." She smiled as I walked into the living room. "Sorry about the boys, they're assholes."
I smirked, "it's cool, I should've been up earlier to help you with them."
"You needed the rest...crazy shit last night."
"Tell me about it." I said as I helped myself to one of the boys left over poptarts. "Have you talked to Sherrie?"
She shook her head no, "Something tells me she's not gonna answer the phone today, "We'll have to drop by unannounced later today."
I didn't like the idea of just showing up but I knew she was right. "Do you think he hurt her," I asked more than a little afraid of the answer. "She was pretty freaked out last night, like I know she likes him a lot but even she can't be so freaking blind to see that this shit is crazy, that he's like some lunatic when it comes to her."
"He's obssesed with just like Madame Alicia said."
I nodded. "She said it would only get worse."
"More reason for us to keep an eye on her and to make sure that psycho stays away from her."
I felt bad, "You know this is Scherrie's fault Max."
She was ready to argue but I shook my head and simply continued. "Sher told us the night of her birthday that there were rules to follow when doing this...she's the one who told us that...Only do it once a day, only do it for a week, no personal information...Sherrie did it almost all day everyday until Bryan approched her but by then she had made it so she willed herself into his thoughts, so she's all he can think about all day long every day."
"W-well we can't tell her that, It'd kill her."
I nodded, "I know..."
__________
As the day went by Maxine's Mom finally got off work and she took the boys out to a movie and Maxine and I prepared ourselves to make the trip to Sher's place.
The drive over was quiet and I knew it was because neither of us really knew what to say. When we arrived We found her parents cars both in the driveway alongside her own car, so we knew they were home.
Max knocked on the door and Sherrie's dad answered.
"Hey girls." He said kindly with a sad smile. "I don't think Sherrie's up for much company today."
"She text us to see if we could come over." Maxine said with a confused sort of look as she pulled out her phone as if to look up a text.
I knew she was bullshitting but she sold it so well.
"Oh, well just a short visit okay, she's still tired from lastnight and her mom and I are pretty diappointed with her choices."
"Yes sir." I said now. "We understand."
He stepped to the side and let us in, we waved at Sherrie's mom on the sofa and we showed ourselves up to her bedroom.
We didn't bother knocking and Sherrie wasn't expecting anyone to let themselves in as she was prepared to shout at us for walking in.
I closed the door behind us and she whispered angrily.
"You could've fucking text!"
"You wouldn't have fucking answered!" Maxine countered just as angrily before taking a seat on the floor.
