Chapter Thirty One: Getting to know you

-Riley-

I sat there bouncing my knee out of nerves.

"Oh honey really, don't look so nervouse." Cordelia's mother smiled as she waslked in a large bowl of mashed potatoes.

I smiled and nodded before looking over at Cordelia. It's one thing to meet her friends, but it's hella nervewracking experience...and one I've never had to do before.

"Riley," Her stepfather sounded, "Cordi tells us that you're from Texas...how did you two meet?

I looked at Cordelia, we had discussed what we would tell people offically.

"We orginally met at a park, I'd seen her there a few times before I finally approached her and introduced myself and after that we'd talk online all the time and we just went forward from there."

"That's so sweet, " Her mother said, "You know I felt like she had a boyfriend, I mean she suddenly wanted to spend all this time at her Dad's house, She seemed happier..."

"Mom." Cordelia groaned.

"It's the truth." She continued. "So you're a senior like Cordelia?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Got any plans after graduation?" Cordelia's mother asked me.

"To be honest I'm not too sure ma'am, Originally My father and I had talked about me trying to get into a University on a Football scholarship...but when I moved that plan kinda went out the window...Now I'm thinking maybe seeing if I can get into a college around town, I'd like to stay close for my mom and sister."

They nodded and we talked about various other topics while we enjoyed Cordelia's mothers dinner.

"Are you sure you wouldn't rather be out everyone else?" I asked unsure.

"Why would I ever want to be at a random party instead of spending time with you...unless you were at the party too, but even still I'd be spending the majority of my time with you."

I shrugged and smiled, "I just don't want to be that boring girlfriend."

He smiled and shook his head, "You aren't...I like that we can just chill and still not get tired of being with each other, and it isn't overkill since we still do our own things like me gaming with Ollie and you hanging with the girls."

"Ugh...you're so amazing." I sounded before I laid my head on his shoulder.

"Hey kids we'll be back...We're going to have some drinks at the Williams'."

"Your mother is drinking, I'm driving." My stepdad amended. "Cordelia...remember the rules."

"I know Dad." I groaned.

He smiled and nodded as mom waved us goodnight.

Once they both walked out I looked at Riley, "they like you."

"I like them, they're cool."

"Sooo...what should we do?" I asked before his mouth met mine. It was exactly what I was hoping for. But when things got too heavy we pulled apart...while we may be moving fast in a lot of ways, both Riley and I understood that we wouldn't rush into a physical relationship.

"We should get going if we're going to meet up with the others." I said. Sherrie's parents were letting her have a "Halloween party."

"Yeah...is there gonna be a lot of people there?" He asked, I could pick up the slight nervousness in his words.
