Chapter Thirteen: A witches hat & a move
-Cordelia-After having a rather sluggish day (having woken up before sunrise). I finally found the will to call the girls.
I started with Scherrie first.
But there was no answer.
So I switched over to call Maxine.
It rang before going to voicemail so I knew she'd more than likely be with Tommy. I put my phone down and pulled out my laptop.
I couldn't stop myself from googling about dreams.
What causes a reoccurring dream to stop?
I scan through various blogs and webpages who claimed to have definitive answers but came back with nothing short of...stress.
Could I really be stressing over school that bad that I had unknowingly messed up the dream?
Then again maybe Riley was the one with the stress, I couldn't remember the details but I recalled him mentioning that he was going through a lot in his personal life.
I felt horrible, I couldn't remember if I actually ever asked about his problems because I'm always so wrapped up in my own drama.
I hoped he was alright.
"Hey sweetie, I'm meeting your dad for dinner if you want to join." Gayle sounded.
"Thank you but I'm feeling kinda tired."
"You feeling alright...you've been kinda down all day." She sounded concerned as she made her way over to the sofa I was currently laying on. She placed the back of her hand on my forehead.
"I'm fine, really...just had trouble sleeping is all."
She gave me a worrisome look before nodding, "we'll call us if you want us to bring you anything on the way home."
I nodded in return and watched as she left, I found a movie on tv and only got up to go to the restroom or get snacks.
I was completely enthralled in a documentary about ghosts when my phone began to ring.
"Hey." I answered upon seeing that it was Maxine.
"So um...not sure where you're at."
"Oh I came to dads for the weekend, what's up?" I filled her in.
"Oh cool...well not trying to worry you or anything, but...have you talked to Sher recently?"
"Not since before I left for the weekend." And despite her trying not to "worry" me, she had done just that. "What's going on Max?"
"I felt shitty for dodging her yesterday, so I tried calling her but no answer, then a text and nothing...now that set me on edge because you know that girl lives on her phone so I figured she's seriously pissed." She sighed and continued. "I wanted to fix whatever was going on so I went over, her car was there but her mom said she wasn't there."
