Chapter Thirty: Homecourt
Riley

As weeks turned into a month, Cordelia and I did everything we could to get to know more about each other. We text constantly, called each other every morning and every night, and we'd face time in the afternoons...but it was the weekends that I lived for now. I even found an after school job that allowed me weekends off.

Cordelia had come up to her dads place twice and this was my first time going into her hometown to visit her.

"Hey man." I said as I got into my truck.

"Hey bro, you good?" Ollie asked.

Over the past month, myself and Cordelia's friend Ollie had become cool, we'd game online enough and when he'd come up with the girls (Since Cordelia's dad and step-mom were back) he'd stay here at my grandparents place with me.

"Just checking that it's still cool if I stay the weekend over there?" I asked.

Of course I wanted to see Cordelia and I couldn't exactly just stay with her so when I asked him to stay over at his place he had to check with his parents but they seemed cool with it since we let him stay here.

"Yeah man for sure...figured we could double on a movie and dinner one night but of course I get that you and Cords are gonna want some one on one time too."

"Thanks Ollie, you don't know how much this means for Cordelia and I."

Truth be told my mom was a little hesitant about me going to another town with kids she doesn't know too well (exception being Ollie since he stays with us from time to time), not to mention this was the weekend before Halloween, as Halloween actual falls on a weekday this year...

She knew this was the weekend that most people would be partying since they couldn't really do so on the actual day...But in the end she gave in after talking with Ollie's parents and me persuading her that I was only really going to hang out with some friends at Ollie's place.

And this wasn't exactly a lie considering the others could do whatever they wanted, I'd just be glad to be near Cordelia again.

"Alright man, I'll be there in a while, text me the address ."

"For sure." He said before he hung up.

After hanging up I sent a quick text to Cordelia letting her know I was just now leaving and she didn't miss a beat when texting me back, I also got the text from Ollie and put in the address into the GPS on my phone and finally took off.

Cordelia

[Riley: See you soon Lovely.]

I couldn't help but smile with giddy elation.

"Riley texting you?" Max asked with her own smile. My friends had gotten over their initial aversion to him as time had passed and we've all gotten to hangout with each other.

In Maxine's case however it was even more of a reason to like him since not only was he my boyfriend (we understood we just couldn't put off being in a relationship) but also one of Ollie's friends now as the two had gotten pretty chummy over the last month.

"He says he's on his way now." I admitted.

I text him back quick because I don't like him texting and driving so hopefully he'd still be at his place when he gets my response.

[Cordelia: Careful on your way Piggy.]

I smiled once again as I remember a couple weeks back.

I had gone up to stay with my dad for the weekend and while there we had met up at a playground because he had to watch his sister.

He was so adorably attentive to her and more so he was really silly and playful.

I liked that they were so close, and I don't think he cared that he wasn't being macho or cool, he even gave her piggy back rides.

Even though he was clearly tired out, he would oblige her by picking her back up and running around the park.

I teasingly called him Piggy but it sort of stuck.

I continued to talk with Maxine before Sher arrived.

"You guys...I have a date tonight." She smiled nervously.

"Is that a bad thing?" Max asked a little humored, picking up on her unsure demeanor.

Sherrie sighed, "W-well I don't think so, but...I don't know, maybe I shouldn't go."

"Why" I asked, it was weird seeing her pull in on herself all of sudden since Sherrie had always been so boisterous, and boy crazy at that.

"Well ..." She sighed. "You guys know how after the whole Bryan thing my parents got all 'Praise God' so we started going to church...long story short, it was Luke Warner who asked me out tonight...through my parents no less."

"Okay I can see him asking your parents for permission to go out with you as kinda old school...But Luke's not bad." I offered.

We had all known Luke was the one kid in school who never really spoke to anyone, took his own lunch to school every single day since kindergarten, and up until just now everyone kinda thought he was A-sexual since he's never shown even the slightest interest in anyone guy or girl."

"I mean he's not bad looking." Maxine put in.

Sher shrugged, "He's always been kinda cute in a loner, antisocial sort way."

"And he's very polite....I bumped into him once and he told me sorry." I added.

Sherrie sighed, "Everyone will be talking about it."

"Well not to sound like a bitch but everyone was talking about it when you were with Bryan, more so after the whole fiasco." Maxine said.

"Look, go out with Luke." I smiled, "he is a nice guy, and if he made the effort to ask your parents at lrast you know he's into you and a gentleman...If nothing else you'll get out of the house for a little while, but I thik you should really try and have fun."

"Yeah, yeah...I promise." She said before smiling..."Enough about me, your man's coming this weekend, you excited to finally have him come to our homecourt?"

I laughed and shook my head, "Technically the whole state is considered homecourt to me in his eyes...but yeah, I'm kind of anxious for him to see our town, and meet... well basically everyone."

"You introducing him to your parents?" Maxine asked.

I smiled and nodded, "Yeah, seems kinda fast since we've only been together a month in the real world...but if we add in the dream time, it's been a few months together...he's a big part of my life and I just want to share him with everyone in my life."

"Just so long as he doesn't become your whole life." Maxine put in.

"He won't...nor would he let me, he does tell me that I should spend time with you guys or go out with my mom every now and again..."

"Aww that's sweet of him." Sherrie cooed.

I smiled, "I think he's worried I'll get bored with him." I admitted, "to be honest I'm worried that he'll tire of me...I mean, I'm only going to become much more busy as I start college."

Max shrugged, "He'll be starting too...plus he's got his job now, point is you guys will figure it out and neither of you will get bored of one another because you're both sickingly in love and I both love and hate it." She teased with a small smirk. "But seriously, You two will be fine."

I nodded, "I think we will be."
