As soon as I heard Ryder said that I felt how the blood as well as the color was drained off my face.
"A-are you sure?" I stammered, how could this be real?
"It's okay if you don't believe me but I'm just telling you this so from now on you can be more careful." Ryder said in a calm voice.
I shook my head.
"It's not that, I do believe you but now that I know that I'm the new target of the Association I know that they won't stop until I'm dead." I said, my voice constantly shook full of fear.
Ryder looked at me straight in the eyes.
"I would never let anything happen to you again." Ryder promised me.
"I appreciate you telling me this but it's not necessary because I already know that." I told him as I looked up.
Ryder looked at me in awe.
"You do?" He asked me not believing it.
"Yes, but that is irrelevant right now. We need to focus in more important things." I said trying to distract him, it worked.
"In what, what is more important that we need to focus on?" He asked confused.
"In the Association, you told me that my whole life I had been lied to, that the Association has hidden so many things away from the hunters." I said as I shook my head.
"What should we do first?" He asked me.
"You could tell me the truth, the truth about Anna Flacon, the same truth the Association has been hiding from all the hunters." I told Ryder as I stared at the rose.
"Then we should go with Mason, at this hour he is always at the library." Ryder said as he put the rose away.
"Why Mason?" I asked him.
"Because Mason knows more about her, he has studied everything about her." Ryder said as he walked towards me.
"Fine, then we shall go." I said as I headed to the door, but as I got to the hallway Ryder grabbed my right wrist stopping me and pushed me against the wall, his body against mine.
"What are you doing Ryder?" I asked him shocked.
"Why did you say that?" Ryder asked me, what was he going on about?
"What? What are you talking about?" I asked him confused.
"The first morning after you woke up you were a bit confused but you said something, you said that you were sorry that you were my mate, did you really..." He trailed off as he stared at my eyes.
"Did I really mean it?" I said finishing the sentence for him.
"Yes." Ryder said.
"I did." I said nodding.
"Why?" He asked I could feel his breath against my face.
"Because it is true, and I cannot assimilate the guilt, because I do feel guilty that you had no choice, that you're stuck with me." I whispered knowing that Ryder could hear me.
"Don't you understand Doll? If I could choose any other girl in the world to be my mate it would still be you. Only you Doll, no matter what." Ryder said as he looked at me so intensely.
I felt my breath leave my body, I stared at Ryder and I knew that his lips were only a few inches away from mine.
"Ryder?" I said in a soft voice.
