A still figure in white linen sheets
Hope is running out, he breathes in deep
Once a light shining o' so brightly
Now dim and flickering, death just lurking
Not a single promise he ever broke
He vowed to keep every word he spoke
"I promise you, I'll never lie"
So far those words have never died
"I'll give you my all, I give you my word"
A declaration of love though his state deteriors
"I will fight. I promise I will live"
With weak, trembling hands; those words he gives
For a while, my sad heart felt hope
He never breaks a vow he spoke
But alas, who would ever have known
That these words this strong young soul has sown
Is the first promise he will ever break
And the last promise he will ever make
