"Torn Between Life and Death"

I can hear the beat of my steady heart

My mind is in ruins

My body is at war

I sleep then wake up

Then agony then black out

The world keeps on going

while I'm stuck in this moment

I'm drowning in shadows

They threaten to come near

They invite me to stay

in this peaceful nightmare

The longer I stay

The better it feels

The pain fades away whenever I'm here

Darkness holds out his hand

It's inviting, it's tempting

I take one step closer

And all the hurt starts fading

The more I'm swallowed by shadows

The more my agony melts away

I reach out my hand

But then a light shines from where I came

Warmth coursed throughout my soul

I felt alive

I felt more sure

I faced the brightness

Turned my back from death

Leaned just a little bit closer

And suffering came back as a threat

I was frightened, exhausted

I know what awaits me in the light

Troubles and pain

Fire searing inside

A mask over my face

And tubes attached to supply life

But it all hurts so much

And I just want to die

I've fought and I've battled

I've fought my whole life

I've fought to stay in this earth

Ever since I was five

I stayed as strong as I could

Even as I grew weak

But my light started to fade

And it's now too much for me to take

Now life and death are on each side

Struggling to take me

Making me decide

Dark, sorrowful death offering me peace

Beautiful life bringing me misery and hope in one piece
