Fool

28 2 1

So long I've stood far
So long I've stood still
So long I've tried
to call you at will

I always stayed here
Always waited true
Hoping behind your shadow
Longing for you

Do you even know?
How you alone can make me feel?
How I wish you'd at least look?
How I wish you'd know I'm real?

From afar I give you love
From the shadows I show you care
I worry for you in hiding
Though for you I'm not even there

I was contented, it was enough
To see you smiling wide
Beside some other girl right there
While I just stood right here to hide

She probably made your world
While you made mine
Though it twists my heart
Honestly, it was fine

All was good
All was great
Everyday you'd laugh
Everyday I'd wait

It was all right
Until that day
When all turned different;
Went another way

I smiled from afar
But that day you saw
And you smiled right back
And just left me in awe

The next day you said "hi"
The next day you walked with me
A few days more
And we were sat by the TV

You took me out to dinner
Then brought me out under the stars
I thought my days of longing
Could now be thrown afar

I felt warmth spread through me
As our hands delicately touched
Our eyes met and I swear
The whole world around me stopped

You leaned in close, our hands now linked
My heart then skipped a beat

But it all went back the way before when you said:

"April Fools"

Then got up on your feet

A/n: 😂 Sorry, I just had to make an April Fool's Day themed poem for the sake of the occasion (which is why it turned out to be a bit ridiculous and not well-thought-of).

And yes I realize that for some of you April 1st was yesterday but in where I am it's today (stupid timezones) and again, sorry for the ridiculousness of it all. Bye!
