Sunrise

Nothing could ever compare
To the feeling a sunrise brings
As it warms up the cold, misty air
While the sweet morning lark sings

What a treat for tired, sore eyes
As the night blends in with day
As swirls of colors paint the skies
Orange and pink replace the gray

The tendrils of light tickle my face
Caressing the grass against my toes
Up here I feel I've been touched by grace
As warmth in my cold heart grows

Side by side on this little hill
Hearts and fingers intertwined
As if for us time stood still
As we paint the sunrise in our mind

What's so special? you ask of me
For everyday you witness this sight
What captures you when all I see
Is the day replacing the night?

You look at me with questioning eyes
I smile and softly speak so true
What's so special about the sunrise
Is now I'm seeing it with you
