Draco's P.O.V

I woke up to my mark tingling. I held my left fore arm up to my face and noticed it moving, the skull spewed smoke and formed the words: It is time. I sobbed. This could not be happening. I had just had one of the best days of my life and now it was over. I didn't have a chance with Harry after I carried out my task. Fresh tears started streaming down my face as I thought about what I was going to do today. I couldn't. I couldn't do it. I had to get rid of my mark.

Harry's P.O.V

The sun poured through the window and onto my face, waking me from my sleep. As soon as I was awake I knew something was wrong. My left fore arm prickled and I felt like crying. All of a sudden a searing pain went through my fore arm, as if someone were cutting it with a knife. When I looked at it there was nothing there.

'What the hell?'

But something in my sub-conscience told me what to do. I bolted upright and pulled on a sweater and jeans, yanking on my converse as I hopped through the portrait hole towards the Slytherin common rooms.

I ran down to the dungeons and knocked on their portrait. Pansy Parkinson opened it and I pushed past her up to where I could feel Draco was. I flung open a door and raced to the washroom, I unlocked it and tackled Draco from the side, wrenching the knife out of his hand.

He was crying, his chest heaving as blood poured from his arm. He had slashed his dark mark over and over in a desperate attempt to cover it up or cut it out. I tossed the knife to the side and held Draco to my chest, rocking back and forth.

"Shhhh, it's ok, you're ok. I'm here now. Shhhh" I whispered, stroking his hair soothingly.

I slowly pulled out my wand to heal his cuts but when I lifted his arm there was nothing there, literally nothing, just smooth milky white skin. "D-Draco... Look..."

He spoke into my shoulder, "I don't want to, I hate it! I can't look... it makes me do bad things. It will make me kill Dumbledore..." He trailed off, sobbing.

"No, it won't, not anymore honey. Just look." He sniffed and looked at his fore arm.

"W-why is it g-glowing and w-where is t-the mark?" He questioned, a small smile playing on his face.

"I don't know the answer to either of those questions Dragon, but I do know that you are free."

I held his face in my hands, staring into his mercury grey eyes glinting with tears. He pressed his lips against mine and the room erupted in white and blue light. The two colours intertwining to form the bodies of two dragons, one blue, one white. We sat back and watched the dragons dissipate as we ended our kiss.

"Woah." I said.

"No kidding." Draco replied.

Draco's P.O.V

My dark mark forgotten, me and Harry grabbed each other's hands as we raced towards the library where we knew Hermione would be. "She doesn't know about us- pant- yet, so take it easy on the PDAs please." Harry said, gasping for air.

I smirked and ran faster. "Hermione!" He yelled across the library. "SHHH!" Came a voice from behind a shelf. "Sorry." He mumbled. "What the- Harry? Why are you holding Malfoy's hand?" Hermione gave us a puzzled look as she took in the sight of Draco's blood on my sweater and our clasped hands. "He's my boyfriend." we said in unison as we sat down opposite her. "The strangest thing just happened." Harry said before continuing to tell her what happened.

A hand flew to her mouth as he finished his story. "Merlin's beard Harry! I know what that is!" She bolted up from her seat and dashed to a shelf, pulling books out and making a stack. "It's called a dragon's promise. It's an unbreakable bond between two people that is extremely rare."

Draco and I looked at each other, then down at our hands which were glowing slightly.

"What does this mean?" He asked.

"It means... you two are- well...  mates." She said quietly.

"Why does that make sense?" I asked, searching Harry's face for a reaction to what we just heard. He smiled and pulled me in for another kiss. When we broke away I stood up and took out my wand.

"Expecto Patronum!" I commanded.

Blue light flew out of my wand to form, not my usual wolf, but a blue dragon, beating it's wings up and down in the air.

Harry gaped at it before trying it out himself. Sure enough, his stag had turned into a brilliant white dragon.

"What the bloody hell is going on here!?" Ron stormed into the library.

"I saw everything. You and Malfoy?! How long? When were you going to tell me you were dating my least favourite person on the planet?" He ranted.

"I- Ron! Get away from him!" He had lunged at me, wand drawn and raised. "Lacero!" He slashed me across the neck and all I saw before I blacked out was Harry glowing a bright white.

Harry's P.O.V

I watched as Ron shot Draco with a cutting spell right across his throat and exploded with rage. My fists clenched and I roared with fury, my body becoming encased in white light as gigantic leathery wings tore through my back. Searing heat rose in my stomach and spread through my body, blasting through my hands and onto Ron.

He screamed and fell to the ground, his face red from burns.

I ran to Draco's side and folded my wings around us. I pushed his platinum blond hair away from his face and kissed him, cradling his body in my arms. White light pulsed though me and, in turn, through Draco. He gasped and his eyes flew open, turning silver blue for a second and then changing back to their beautiful mercury grey.

"D-Draco! Oh thank Merlin, I thought you were going to die!" I burst into tears and my wings sank back into my back, the white light fading into me.

Draco sat up and pulled me into his chest. "I'm not dead, everything will be ok." He whispered and kissed me on the forehead. After awhile I fell asleep in his arms and was vaguely aware of him carrying me and setting me down on a nice soft bed...
