THREE YEARS LATER
Scorpius' P.O.V
Things had always been good between me and Albus. I mean, sure we had spats but what friendship doesn't? Now I had realized something about the way I felt towards him. I had decided that I was in love with him. Since I accepted that I've felt awkward around him. I wanted to tell him, at least that I was gay. But I didn't want to ruin our friendship if he doesn't feel the same way. I knew that if he was he would tell his parents but that wasn't a good thing. They hated everyone that was different and would beat him again. When he told them he was in Slytherin he received a howler stating what a disgrace he was and when he got home they hit him and locked him in his room, much like what the Dursleys did to my dad.
I looked up at him from where I was sitting in the Slytherin common room. Albus was sitting in a chair by the window that looked into the black lake.
"Al? Are you ok?" I asked and he slowly turned to look at me.
"I just don't want to go home this Christmas. I um... told my parents something and they're really upset about it." He said quietly. He fiddled with the blanket covering his lap.
"Al? What did you tell them? You can tell me it's okay." I said, walking over to him and sitting on the arm rest of his chair. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes.
"I-I'm gay."
Wait. He was? This was amazing! I smiled at him. "I accept you. Also because I know how hard it is to tell someone. I am too."
"You are?" I nodded. He grinned. "Who's the lucky guy?"
"Oh... um...well actually it's... you..." I whispered, looking down at my hands. I felt my face grow hot and knew that it stood out because of the contrast with my pale skin and almost white hair. After a minute I stood and walked up to our dorm where I closed the curtains and buried my face in my pillow. I had just ruined our friendship. A sob escaped my mouth and I began to cry into the pillow. There goes my best friend.
"Scorp? Do you mind if I come in?"
"I know you don't want to be friends, I understand that it will make things awkward." I sobbed.
"No it won't." I heard him slip through the curtains and lay down beside me. I slowly looked over at him and saw him watching me with a hand propped under his head.
"But you're right in the way that I don't want to be your friend." He said and I squeezed my eyes shut, tears threatening to escape. The next thing I knew he was kissing me. A warmth spread through my body as I reacted to what was happening. After a moment of shock I kissed back. I twined my fingers in his brown locks and pulled him closer. When we pulled away he gazed at me and I smiled.
"I don't want to be your friend because I want to be your boyfriend." He said with a smirk. "Oh I suppose that would be okay." I teased.
"Of course you think so. I'm the best." He said smugly.
I shoved him playfully and he fell off the bed, falling to the floor in a tangle of pillows and arms. I burst out laughing. He tried to make a stern face but ended up laughing along with me. He grabbed a pillow and threw it at my head. I ducked and reached to grab the one at the foot of the bed but was to slow and Albus tackled me from behind. "Haha! A-Albus! Let m-me go!" I screeched as he tickled me. "Never!" He shouted and proceeded to tickle me even more.
"Am I interrupting something?" It was our roommate Steve Longbottom. "N-no! Sorry Albus i-is tickling me! Al!" I said, breathless from laughing. He chuckled. Albus finally stopped and we sat up. He smirked and I stuck out my tongue at him. I looked over at Steve who was watching us with a raised eyebrow. "About time!" He said, flopping back onto his bed. "For what?" I asked, confused. "For you two to get together! It's been coming for years!" I looked at Albus and he laughed. "Were we that obvious?" Steve nodded. I shrugged. "Huh."
Then Albus' face fell. "My parents are going to kill me for this. I first come out to them and now I have a boyfriend? I'm doomed." His eyes filled with tears as he looked at his shoes. "You can spend Christmas with me. My family will be overjoyed to have you." I said, wrapping my arms around him. He turned to me and buried his face in my chest.
"I'm here. You don't ever have to back there if you don't want to." He nodded. "Okay. Thank you Scorp." He sniffed. I rubbed his back and gave him a peck on the nose. Steve groaned and made a disgusted noise. "Oh shove it Steve." Albus joked, pulling away from my hug. "Alright, I'm going to bed. We leave for my house tomorrow." I said, ruffling Albus' hair. He pushed my hand away and went to change into his pajamas.
"Scorp?" Albus whispered through the dark.
"What is it Albus?" I whispered back.
"Can- can I sleep with you?" He asked nervously.
"Oh, yeah of course. Come in." I said, pulling back the sheets. Albus climbed in and I wrapped my arms around him. I pulled him into my chest and he intertwined our hands. "Goodnight Scorp." I sighed contentedly and sidled closer to him. "Goodnight Al." I whispered into his ear. I gave him a kiss on the temple. And for once I knew he felt safe.
I'm sorry I did that to Wood! I actually really liked him in the books but I had no idea who Albus' father should be. Anyways, read, vote, follow and comment!!
