Alex quickly stood up as he offered his hand to Lou, she grabbed it and pulled herself up. They walked to his car and got in the car. Alex started the engine but he suddenly stopped and looked at Lou. Lou's temples furrowed, "Is everything okay?"
"Close your eyes. I'll let you know when we arrive,"
Lou closed her eyes and Alex started to pull the car over the road. Later after that, they arrived in Newbury St. Alex unlocked the door of the car and warned Lou, "Don't open your eyes, I'll escort you outside."
Alex got out of the car and opened the door of the passenger seat. He took Lou's hand as he helped her stand up steadily. "I feel like a complete blind girl here," Lou teased as she laughed.
Alex grinned as he put his arms to her lower waist and pulled her closer in, protecting her from falling. They entered the café and everyone started to notice. A man walked out of the café wearing a suit and almost greeted them warmly yet loudly. Adrien spoke by moving his mouth only after Alex had given him a cue to be silent. Adrien brought them to the table near window full of glass inside the café. Alex pulled out a chair and escorted Lou to sit on it. He took a seat in front of her.
"Can I open my eyes now?" Lou pleaded.
Alex quickly grabbed her hands and put them on her eyelids to cover her eyes. "Not before you taste their best food,"
Lou shook her head and agreed with the order instead. As the food arrived, Adrien pulled out a chair and sat with them. He gave Lou a cup of Café Au Lait and a bagel just like the first food she ordered in Adrien's café. Lou took a smell of the aroma and she could tell it easily. "Oh my God, I know where it is!"
Alex laughed as he cupped his chin with his right hand, enjoying Lou's smile. "Guess where"
Lou opened her eyes, seeing Alex in front of him and Adrien next to him. She pulled out a big smile until she had no idea where to start, "Oh my God! Adrien!"
Lou extended her arms as she tried to hug Adrien and he stepped into her arms giving a warm hug. Lou then looked down at the table seeing the foods, "Bagels!"
As they enjoyed the coming back of Lou to Adrien's café, Adrien started the conversation.
"How was the short trip?"
"It was definitely wonderful," Alex smiled as he put the coffee on the table. "I have always liked it when she's next to me."
Lou put her hands on Alex's and Alex grabbed hers, "Are you sure? What about the women you will see in the ball tomorrow night? They must look really wonderful in fancy dresses."
Alex laughed, "They are only my old friends in Harvard. And also, the masquerade party tomorrow night is just a tradition, however," Alex lifted her hands and kissed it gently, "You are my special date and I'm all yours,"
Adrien shook his head, grinning. "Oh Gosh, I'm still a bottle without its cap. I better go,"
They both laughed enjoying the circumstances. Everything felt so right for each of them until the clock pointed to 6 pm. Alex and Lou left the café, Adrien escorted them outside and waved goodbye as the car leaving the café. Adrien walked in the café and served the left customers. He was glad to run the café again because of Alex investing his share in Adrien's café, since that moment Adrien could handle his business again. In the corner of the room, there was a guy wearing a hat dancing his fingers on his laptop keyboard. His hat covered his face with its shadow whilst his face focused to the screen. He hadn't left the café since Lou and Alex were there until the clock pointed at 10. The café had to be closed and the staffs were started to leave but the guy in the corner hadn't left yet. Adrien politely approached the guy and said, "Excuse me, Sir. The café is closed already, would you mind?"
The guy closed his laptop and turned his head to Adrien. He took off his black hat and put it on the table. Adrien gawked as he started to recognize the man. The guy smirked over Adrien and looked at him in the eye, "Do you miss me?"
"What are you doing here?" asked Adrien as he crossed his arms.
Paul chuckled, "I thought I would be welcomed here," he paused then stood up, "since we haven't finished our business, have we?"
Adrien never contacted Paul anymore since Milan. He ignored his calls, messages, and e-mails. Luckily, Paul didn't send any hit-man to murder him.
Adrien turned his back, walking to the door but Paul continued, "You still owe the half money I paid to you. And remember you have signed the contract because the mission has not accomplished,"
Adrien turned back to Paul again, approaching him, "I'll give you back the money but there is one thing you should know, Lou doesn't love you anymore, Paul. What are you chasing for?"
"I am one of the youngest male CEO in Paris, I am a powerful person, Adrien. I can get anything I want. If I want her, then I'll get her," bragged Paul, walking closer to Paul. "And if I wanted to kill you, I could have just done that earlier but I know Lou cares about you, so I postpone the mission,"
"I don't give a sht about your title, you are a psycho! Now leave the café or I will call the police," Adrien pulled out his phone out of the pocket.
Paul raised his hand, gawking yet sneering, "Woah. Not so fast, Adrien. Don't you see the guy outside over there near the bushes? And the guy over there near market? If you touch me or even dial the phone, your death body will be on the floor right here, right now."
Adrien locked the phone yet still had it on his hand. He started to feel scare but he couldn't hide his look of fear. Paul smirked, "Afraid enough? I just haven't told you the rest,"
Adrien shook his head, getting pissed, "Now stop the bragging, just spill it out. What do you want?"
"I love that question," Paul tapped his nose with his fingers, smirking, "I want you to have double identity."
"What the hell are you talking about?"
"I've made you a fake identity. Visas, passports, IDs, phone numbers, and everything are ready. You only to be a major hater of Alex and your task is spread news about him. About his dirty work, dark history, and everything. His company seems growing really fast in Milan and about to extend in Paris, I don't want to compete with him."
"I will never do that such thing for you," Adrien pointed his finger to Paul, looking completely mad. "If your company is not as good as his, then there's something with yours! You are now playing dirty work!"
"Shut your filthy mouth or I will ask those hit-man outside to shoot you right away," Paul threatened, looking very serious. "Just don't mess with me, café owner. If you reveal our little secret to anyone, get ready to lose everything you have. Not only things, but people you love. I loathe traitors and you know that,"
Paul smirked and walked leaving the café but he suddenly stopped, "Oh, one more thing. I'm watching every single move you make. Once you make a mistake, you will regret it."

Is it getting more complicated? I apologize for another plot twist because I thought there had to be clear explanation of Paul's obsession towards Lou. However, the ending is almost coming. Just stay tuned and see what will happen next in the Masquerade Ball.
