Valentines request by @TuxedoCat13

"Y/n, get up, you're going!" Christy exclaimed, tugging my arm to get me out of my chair. "I can't go if you don't. I need my best friend for... Moral support, ya know?" she exaggerated before putting her shoes on.

"No. I don't." She glared at me and I sighed, "but if it's that important to you, I'll go."

"Yay!" She literally jumped with joy, clapping with a huge grin which faded a bit when she looked me over, "but you need to change."

I rolled my eyes but obeyed, walking to my room without another word.

I put on my nicest outfit and a pair of doc martens, avoiding looking into the mirror too long before making my way out.

Christy was right outside my room, tapping her foot impatiently, "good! You're ready" she jumped excitedly.

I forced a smile, walking behind her as she led the way to the gym, which is where the school was having its yearly valentines dance.

Christy ditched me as soon as we got there, which I already knew would happen.

I made my way to the fruit punch which, no surprise, was spiked. I filled my cup then walked to the bleachers and sat down.

I slowly observed my surroundings. Only a few nerds were here, the more brave ones that is. Half of the greasers that showed went down to the locker room to smoke. The preps were either at the punch bowl gossiping, or on the dance floor. The non clique students were dancing.

The jocks were the most wasted, so they were more than likely the culprits to the spiked punch. Most of them were dancing like idiots and flirting, the other few were against the wall nearest to the exit, just chatting.

I sighed, leaning back against the row behind me on the bleachers. All of my friends were either wasted or no where to be seen. Hell, maybe I'd be wasted soon too.

I scanned the room again and noticed Casey Harris walking towards me. He was one of the jocks against the far wall, I must've missed him. We weren't good friends but we knew each other enough to make casual small talk in the hallways.

"Hey," he smiled, taking a seat beside me. I waved in response with a tight smile. Not really hiding the fact that I didn't want to be here.

"Why are you by yourself?" He glanced over at me curiously.

I sighed, "Christy made me come."

He chuckled and I raised a brow at him.

"Oh, sorry. I just thought for sure you'd have a date..." He stared at the ground.

I didn't know whether he was making fun of me or flirting, so of course I jumped on the defensive side, "why is that funny?" I scowled.

He jumped which told me I definitely took that the wrong way. He quickly looked back to me, "no, I meant that it's surprising that you wouldn't have a date..."

I was the one to look away now, my cheeks were heating up, "well... I didn't really want to come anyway, but yeah, no one asked me."

A huge grin covered his face, "well that's good news for me," I watched as he stood up, holding his hand out towards me, "may I have this dance?" He chuckled at his own lameness.

My face heated up worse as I slowly stood, taking his hand with a small smile.

He led me out to the floor when I remembered, I can't fucking dance.

I started to panic when Casey spoke up with a grin, "okay so I suck at dancing, but this is a slow dance so I shouldn't embarrass you too much."

I sighed in relief and laughed, "I can't either so I guess this should be interesting." His smile grew at my words.

The song started and I rested my hands on his shoulders, his resting on my waist. We slowly moved along with the music, only occasionally stepping on each others feet. We laughed it off every time earning a few dirty glances every time.

We finally got the hang of it and I sighed, resting my head on his chest, "this is not how I thought the night would turn out." I spoke softly.

"Me either, but I like it" he mumbled, pulling me closer.

I lifted my head to look up at him when a sudden urge to kiss him swept over me. I don't know whether it was the alcohol or what, but something was up.

I stood on my toes, crashing my lips to his and the world seemed to spin. He hesitated at first but soon kissed back, cupping my cheek in his hand, bringing me closer.

I heard someone, who was more than likely Christy, cheering and was soon followed by more people cheering and clapping.

I pulled away to notice a ton of people just looking at us, smiling and clapping. A few jocks drunkenly yelled things along the lines of 'yeah Casey! Get some!' Which he just responded by shooting them dirty glares.

I slowly pulled away, looking around nervously. Casey must've noticed because he pulled me in for a hug, wrapping his arms around me protectively. I buried my face in his chest until everyone got bored and went back to whatever they were doing before.

"Is it over?" I mumbled.

He chuckled, "yeah, it's over."

I pulled away once I heard the next song come on. It wasn't a slow song so I quickly grabbed Caseys hand and dragged him away.

He laughed, "man, right before I could show off my killer dance moves too."

This time I actually laughed along with his lame joke.

"It's so crowded" I looked around the gym nervously, noticing there were more kids than before. The exit was even blocked.

"You wanna go down to the football field?" Casey suggested, squeezing my hand to get my attention.

"Yeah, that sounds great."

We walked down past the locker rooms and into the pool area, which was full of kids making out. It wasn't as crowded as the gym but we still had to push our way out.

We finally made it out hand in hand and I sighed before making it down the stairs and onto the field, "this is so much better." I smiled and ran to lay down in the middle of the field.

There were a few kids scattered around just laughing and drinking, much more laid back than inside.

"What are you doing?" He chuckled, sitting next to me.

"Trying to enjoy the rest of the night" I tugged on his shoulder, making him fall back and lay next to me.

"I'm glad I'm apart of it" he turned his head to look at me.

I smiled with a small blush, turning onto my side, resting my head on my hand and looking at him, "I am too."

He copied my position, looking into my eyes then speaking softly, "we should do this more often... Hang out more I mean."

"Yeah, I'd like that." I laid back down on my back, due to my arm getting tired.

He leaned over and pecked my lips before doing the same and whispered, "me too."

He took my hand in his and we sat, watching the stars and talking about our lives until we got too tired to do so anymore and he carried me to my dorm.

I'm glad Christy forced me to go to the dance tonight.
