Chapter Three: Mornings Can Be Hectic too

[Cilyn Carson]

I woke up with my arms wrapped around someone. Me being me hadn't registered that it wasn't my wife so I just pulled them closer. I heard a groan and felt them turn over to face me. My eyes were still shut but I was only half awake. The person suddenly laughed making me pull away because it wasn't my wife.

"What are you doing? I didn't think you'd be a cuddler!" He laughed some more as I opened my eyes to see Isaac. I thought about the past events then groaned.

"You let me stay up past 10 didn't you?" He shrugged before getting closer to me.

"Yeah. You're quite the flirt when you're slap happy. Did you know that?" My cheeks flushed as I thought back to last night.

"Yeah, my wife used to tell me that. I can't remember everything from last night, mind refreshing my memory?" He looked up to me with a smile and shook his head.

"Nope! Not happening. I'm gonna keep it all to myself. Now we both should probably get ready for work and drop Andrew off at the babysitter's." I nodded and sat up causing Isaac to groan and cling to me.

"You're so warm but it's freezing in here!" I laughed and pulled away from him. He pouted and dived back into the covers.

"What time do you have to go to work?" I heard a muffled sound and pulled back the blanket.

"Sorry, what was that?" He glared and pulled the blanket out of my grip.

"You're a bastard. I have to be there at eight. You?" I looked over at the clock before frowning.

"Seven is when I usually come in..." I thought for a second before sighing.

"We only took your car didn't we?" I nodded.

"Just take me to work early. My cars there so you won't have to pick me up." Again I nodded and stretched.

"You can take a shower first. Take anything from the closet." He shook his head and got out of the warm bundle of blankets. He walked over to the closet before raising an eyebrow.

"I think you forgot that I'm smaller than you in almost every way." I shook my head before laughing.

"Just dig in the back. You should be able to find something." He looked back at me before gesturing me to go over to him. I walked over and he gave me a cold stare.

"Why don't you dig in the back of your closet and find something for me, aye?" I rolled my eyes and went into the closet. I ventured to the very back and found a few suits that might fit him. I walked out with them and handed them to him.

"Try one. The worst that would be is that the legs are too long." He shook his head and grabbed the gray suit before walking to the door. Before he went through, he turned to me and smiled. I smiled back before waving him off.

"How do you know someone for a week and you're already feeling giddy at the sight of him?" I mumbled to myself before going back into the closet and finding my own outfit to wear today. About 15 minutes later Isaac came back to the room drying his hair with a towel.

"You go take a shower, I'm going to go get Andrew ready." I nodded and walked out past him.

"Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it." He nodded and walked into my son's room. I sighed and walked over to the bathroom. I took several moments to the door before I walked in. I still smelled of my wife's shampoo and had her small knickknacks all around it. It made me want to hide, but I had to get over it, just like I did every day since she died.
